I'm not an expert on formula 1 and I appreciate there are those of you on here who follow it more than me, so maybe you can answer my semi-rhetorical quesetion:

Is it me, or are the FIA the biggest bunch of indecisive, unprofessional fook-ups in world sport? Given the multi-millions they manage over in one of the highest profile global events - surely it's utterly unbelievable that they manage to consistently throw the sport into controversy at every hurdle?

I know we periodically moan about FIFA and UEFA but they've got nothing on the FIA.

Formula 1 might have been genuinely exciting this season but you can't help feel that's purely due to awful management and that it will have consequences?

This has been said for ages, and there's a reason F1 is called a circus. Most would say it's down to Bernie and his 'cronies' holding too much power in the sport

But other governing bodies like UCI (cycling) and the OIC (Olympic) seem just as embarassing...

A lot of the organisations were set up a long time ago and the sports they represent have moved passed them.

You've got to remember that the FIA oversee many different forms of motorsport. F1 is just one of them.

To me, those within F1 have been the problem. Too many rule changes and arguments about their interpretation.

Having had connections with the Jordan Racing Team, and living less than 30 minutes from Silverstone, I never missed a race. In recent years however, I hardly watch it. It's become a procession of ugly cars with race results being dictated by pit-stops or some kind of controversy once everyone has gone home.

The removal of Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley from their respective positions would be a good move. Never going to happen though.
