DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 PremiershipChampionship League One League Two Blue Square Premier Blue Square north/south Sounds good to me Me thinks the numbers are more likely to go rather than reverting back to the old 1,2,3,4 system - so we could have league 1 as 'The Division' with league 2 re-named as 'The Eliminator?' Edit: Almost forgot the obligatory sponsorship deal, so it would be 'The Tampax Division' and 'The Virgin Trains Eliminator'
FilboFox Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Hmmmm... you could be wrong because 'Premier' in French is first so... either way you could be right or wrong. I say just scrap 'Premiership' and have Divisions 1, 2, 3 & 4. I know that Premier means first in French as I speak it, living in Belgium will do that for you, so that would only back the idea that the Championship is Division 2 doesn't it? As for your idea of scrapping the Premiership, I had thought of that and like the idea a lot... just take it back to the plain old Division 1-4. Makes sense. EDIT: Sorry, just realised your answer wasn't to my post... but the idea part still counts.
FilboFox Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 You see if things continue the way they are going, eventually we'll end up with something like this: Premiership Championship League One First Division Blue Square Premier Northern Premier Division Southern Premier Division Each one is just a top league of it's own... hence why we need to go back to simple Leagues 1-4 or Divisions 1-4. Division 1 Division 2 Division 3 Division 4 Division 5 North Division 5 South Perfect.

DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 I think since "Premier" means first in French, we should go with "Segundo League" being second in Spanish. Then, some Slavonic languages could be used for the following leagues while the Blue Square Premier keeps it's name for sponsorship purposes.
James. Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 Who gives a fuck what premier means in French! What the c**t has that got to do with anything? Premiership is a brand and a successful brand doesn't change it's name for the sake of it. This thread is weird.

James. Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 The French? Peut etre. Mais ce n'est pas la point. Sacre bleu.
Ultra Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 As for your idea of scrapping the Premiership, I had thought of that and like the idea a lot... just take it back to the plain old Division 1-4. Makes sense. Not to marketing managers and sponsors...
