cono Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 what do u all think about mark de vries? i personally think he needs more time to get use to english football.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 Maybe, but he won't be a first teamer next season. Will struggle to be in the side next year.
C-man Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 hopefully he doesnt pull on the City strip again 103586[/snapback] Thats unfair, i think he'll be better next season, but i dont think he will start much though.

If Nalis doesnt get the chance too, someone who has a bit of ability and skill then why should a donkey?

Not really that fair is it, in reality Nalis only had a handful of top quality performances.
Matt Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 Mark de Vries has declared the Leicester faithful haven’t seen the best of him yet. The powerful striker moved to the club back in January and has only scored once in 10 starts. However, the former Hearts striker is looking forward to next season once he’s had a full pre season behind him. "I feel a bit down because I know I can do better and that's something that niggles me. "So I just want to come back next season, make a fresh start and show what I can do because they haven't seen the best of me - definitely not." "When I came here in January things looked better than they have done over the last couple of weeks. "We have made it difficult for ourselves although we have been unlucky at times as well. You need to get the breaks sometimes and we haven't had them. "After the wins over Derby and Leeds the pressure has been taken off although that pressure should have gone seven or eight games ago. "Now we can look forward to next season and I know this is the way the manager wants to play. "It takes a lot of energy out of you but it's worthwhile when you see the benefits and reap the rewards. "Hopefully it will be like that every week next season." de Vries; You havn't seen the best of me
still tynie Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 Once he gets a full preseason under his belt u will see the real DeVreasy and will be scoring goals with ease in the poxy 2nd rate coca cola championship

Guest gam14 Posted 8 May 2005 Posted 8 May 2005 I dont think that english football suits de vries as defenders close him down quicker than in scotland and lets face it he hasnt got a good enough first touch to hold the ball up. the reason he did well in scotland is because the spl is a mickey mouse league!!!

He does have a great first touch at times, and his control isn't his weakest part of his game. It's his general slowness and inability to pass simply or actually jump and win headers that frustrates most people.
Scow Posted 8 May 2005 Posted 8 May 2005 Useless again today, but he was plonked on the right wing for large parts of the game. He needs a trouble free pre season.
jase67 Posted 8 May 2005 Posted 8 May 2005 Useless again today, but he was plonked on the right wing for large parts of the game. A big useless striker who cant score and ends up on the right wing. He must be the new Scowcroft. No I take that back Scowcfoft actually won a few headers.
Platinum Fox Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Mark still thinks hes playing in the Scottish league against teams such as Partick thistle, Inverness, Dunfermlin etc. He should piss off back to scotland where he belongs, or in league 2. Correct he hasnt got a good first touch, can't shoot, cant head the ball. What can he do?? He wont get used to english football, hes a lanky larry.
Frenzied Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Didn't have the best of games but was closely marked on Sunday. However, he did connect with a few headers and made one superb turn to beat two defenders. The lad needs a chance.
Stuliasz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 It doesn't help when he is given an ironic cheer every time he wins a header. Strikers thrive on confidence and there are a selection of Leicester fans who seem intent on just taking it away from those who need it most.

Sam Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I know loads of people disagree whenever I praise De Vries but he does have the potential to be a good player and like he has said he does need some time tosettle properly. Judge him after he has had more of a chance to adapt to the style of play down here. We are in a poor league and so players like De Vries will be successful in this division. Top scorer next season with 24 goals MARK DE VRIES you heard it here first.
step Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I am afraid that I dont think we will see MDV at his best untill he can get his weight down. He must be 16 stone.

Most of his shots were like curling passes straight in to the hands of the 'keeper. Certainly didn't look like a professional footballer then... Although, I'm not saying I was ironically cheering his every header.
