Joe. Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 I've seen this somewhere else, and thought it might be a good idea to raise some funds for on here. I've just put it in User Help & Suggestions, but it's never going to get any interest there so it's got to be better placed here. Basically, a poster on the forum will offer a bet, and then offer a price. Another poster will then agree to see the bet, with the loser paying out to the forum (via paypal). Obviously it'd all depend on people being honest and paying out, but the forum won't lose out either way. It's a win-win situation So basically, you offer the bet that you think will occur, in the hope that somebody will accept it. Just a thought like. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 09/10 Bets: Bert - Man Utd to unsuccessfully defend their title - £5 (Bet accepted by Joe)
Shrenchel Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 Not a bad idea. Might encourage more people to do it and provoke more of a sense of competition if half went to the forum and half to the winner? Either way though.
Head Honcho Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 A current premiership player to sign for us in time for the start of next season £5

Either way though. Yeah that's not a bad idea actually, at least it's actually worth it from a selfish perspective then as well.
Bakey Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 A current premiership player to sign for us in time for the start of next season £5 Sign on loan aswell? And does the player have to be a player that has actuall featured last season. Like who would win if we signed Stockdale?

Basically, a poster on the forum will offer a bet, and then offer a price. Another poster will then agree to see the bet, with the loser paying out to the forum (via paypal). Example Joe - Leicester to finish above Forest - £5 (Bet accepted by lildave3) Obviously it'd all depend on people being honest and paying out, but the forum won't lose out either way. It's a win-win situation... Just a thought like. Just a question, what would the money be used for?
Joe. Posted 11 June 2009 Author Posted 11 June 2009 Just a question, what would the money be used for? Running costs of the forum and such. I know Mark has to pay for most of this our of his own pocket, so we could generate money to cover those costs (I'm not sure exactly how much it is to run per year though). Then if we did the half to the forum and half to the person idea there'd be something in it for everybody.
Bert Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Just a question, what would the money be used for? It would go to the upkeep of this fantastic forum.
Bert Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Man Utd to unsuccessfully defend their Premiership title. £5 - Anyone?
Shrenchel Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Man Utd to unsuccessfully defend their Premiership title. £5 - Anyone? Nailed on imo. Man City to finish in the top 6. Tenner.
Joe. Posted 11 June 2009 Author Posted 11 June 2009 Man Utd to unsuccessfully defend their Premiership title. £5 - Anyone? If you're saying Man Utd won't win it, I'll take that. I think they'll do it again. I'll edit the first post in the trhead every time a bet is accepted by somebody if I can...

Shrenchel Posted 14 June 2009 Posted 14 June 2009 Why not just contribute a fiver each anyways? ??? You could say that about anything. Thousands of people do things everyday to raise money for different causes. They might as well not fooking bother eh.
Hullfox Posted 14 June 2009 Posted 14 June 2009 ???You could say that about anything. Thousands of people do things everyday to raise money for different causes. They might as well not fooking bother eh. What a stupid thing to say, even by your standards.
Shrenchel Posted 14 June 2009 Posted 14 June 2009 What a stupid thing to say, even by your standards. How so you goon?fooking everyone has done some quiz, or run or sweepstake or wear you jeans day or whatever to raise money for something when they could have quite as easily just given the money to whatever cause it was without bothering. The point is to get some enjoyment out of it yourself too. How's this any different??

My apologies.
