I think he was joking m8. I didnt take him as being serious. He was being sarcastic re previous stereotyping posters on some of the BNP type threads... or at least thats what I thought he was doing. Apologies if I got it wrong. :)

Apologies if you thought I was having a go at you. I only meant to point out a fact. Shouldn't have used the quote/reply box. My error.

Someone from my year at school was a grandmother before the age of 35. That is horrendous!

Our council don't force people to leave in a situation like this. What they would do in this case, would be to offer her a two bedroom house, pay removal costs, and give her £1,000.-£1500.

I know this would be the case because I work in conjunction with our council's Housing Dept., and have come across numerous such cases.

No way would this grandmother be forced to leave.

Whats the money for?

This.

Like she needs a four bedroomed house? Selfish. Give it t a family that actually needs it.

The money is used as an incentive to encourage them to vacate, and move to a smaller property. They can do what they want with it!

I personally don't think this should be done, but that's the way it is down here.

Absolutely ridiculous. Being given a house for zilch should be plenty an incentive.

It is actually quite scary how much money the council waste.

I was working at one of those council meets in Evington where they discuss how money should be spent and some of the stuff they were coming out with was ridiculous. Im not going to go into details but most people would agree that the money could be better spent. I was doing a job for the council so couldn't get involved but wanted to butt in. Also one of the most boring things ive been to. No doubt the councilors were getting payed to be sat there as well as me lol

Council Tax. Meh

My view is she was given a 4 bed house to raise her family when she needed it, now she lives alone its only right to go to a family. I do have some sympathy for her but I cant feel its right for basically one person to take up such a big property.

Im guessing this is one that will wind up a few people

"never look a gift horse in the mouth"

I think it's fair enough aslong as they re locate her to a more appropriate house.

If you don't like it buy or rent a house that suits you.

It's hardly free, she'd still have to pay rent.

There are costs involved in moving. If you havn't asked to move then it's not fair that you should be forced to pay all those costs yourself.

Really?

I thought council housing was free of charge? If thats the case then why does she not just rent out a house of similar size from a property owner?

Im not clued up on council housing so you may have to elaborate. lol
