Simon Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Sorry if its already been posted, I couldn't find it if it has... Quote from sky sports: Crewe Alexandra are taking a look at non-league starlet Gilbert Cummins. The 17-year-old currently plies his trade with Southern League outfit Bedworth United, but he is being tracked by a number of league clubs. Crewe have now taken Cummins on trial and could offer him a permanent deal at Gresty Road. "I know both Leicester City and Birmingham City have been looking at him," said Bedworth player-manager Mark Hallam. "At the moment he's having a few days with Crewe and it's simply up to everybody concerned as to how that goes." Link: http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.a...el=Championship
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Dario Gradi is an excellent judge of young talent so if he's interested then he's probably a good young player. However, I'm always wary about 'ones for the future'. Who can forget Tricky Trev? His heart was in the right place though. And his second touch was improving by the time he left us.

Mark Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Bedworth United manager Mark Hallam has admitted he is resigned to losing talented youngster Gilbert Cummins in the summer.Cummins has attracted interest from Leicester and Birmingham with his performances in the Southern League and has been on trial at Crewe. And Hallam expects a league club to take a chance on the powerful frontman in the close season. "Leicester wanted him to train with them but he got an ankle injury so that went quiet," Hallam said. "He came back and was banging the goals in so Birmingham also showed interest. "As you would expect with a 17-year-old lad doing that, professional clubs in the area have been taking notice. "He's been training with Crewe and we haven't heard anything directly from Dario (Gradi). We understand they were reasonably impressed. "He's athletic, he scores goals, he's very, very strong and they're attributes that would attract clubs. I expect the interest to pick up again in pre-season. We won't let him go for nothing because we've had our fingers burnt in the past, but we won't stand in Gilbert's way."
Matt Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 Saw that in the local paper (Evening News - Nuneaton, Beduff, and Hinckley paper) months and months ago! My mates dad used to manage Beduff, along with Sutton Coldfield, and he used to play for Nuneaton Borough, along with other clubs I think.
C-man Posted 10 May 2005 Posted 10 May 2005 If hes on trial at crewe i think they will be favourites to sign him. If they let him go without signing him i dont think he'll be worth signing if dario Gradi doesn't believe he is up to scratch.
