Leicesterboi Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 It seems to me that loyalty has become a thing of the past in the modern day era of football. For example Leicester have released scowy today and everybody seems pleased about it. i think he should have had a bit more respect given the service he provided for this club during his earlier seasons. however i am well aware that money is a major factor and for Leicester to move on decisions have to be made. i jus hope we can get in some adequate replacements for those we have shown the door to! Thanks for the service lads ---

Matt Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I can't say this against Scowy because he hasn't been unloyal BUT players don't have any loyalty or feeling for fans so why should fans show it back, Ok if there playing for your club support them, e.t.c...I'm sure scowy will be ok when he next see's his bank balence.

There's a strong argument to say that his loyalty was to his pay packet rather than to LCFC. After all, how many of us would leave a job which pays 15-20k a week? I'm not saying he didn't do anything good for LCFC, but he has been nothing short of shocking for the most of the last 2 seasons.
The Man With The Golden Grahams Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Unfortunately we can't afford to be loyal at the moment. Remember when we went into administration and we had to release lots of staff from behind the scenes? I'm sure many of them had been there for years, plus they will have missed their pay-packets at the end of the month. Scowwy on the other hand certainly won't be scratching around for cash. I'm sure he understands the situation at the club, as do all the players. As for his ability, his peak for us was definitely 2-3 seasons ago. He's definitely replaceable.
Hazza Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 If he'd scored loads of goals for us and contributed a lot but was forced to leave due to cost-cutting, then i'd respect him and be somewhat less pleased than i am at his leaving. As it is, he didn't. I'd thank him for the effort, wouldn't go as far as loyal as no-one wanted him until last summer supposedly, and then Micky was meant to have turned bids down anyway. More financial trouble than he was worth though.

But I wonder if the board would feel the same if Levein gets off to a bad start next season? As for Scowcroft, I think he got a raw deal a bit with the fans. I agree that he played better in the early part of his City career, but he was played out of position for much of the time, and then when he was put up front, the rest of the team (IMO) dragged him down to their level. Good luck Scowy.
