StanSP Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he does not plan to stay in football management beyond 2015.The 50-year-old Italian admits he has changed his mind about retiring on a couple of occasions in 2000 and 2005. "I hope to stay here. It depends not only on me. But, after three months here, I hope to stay a long time. "I thought I'd finish in 2005 but after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool, I thought it was better to continue. Now, my stop is 2015." Ancelotti added that initially he had not intended to pursue a lengthy career in football management. "I started to train in 1995 and, after two years of this job, I thought that, for me, I would end my career in 2000," the former AC Milan coach said. "When I got to 2000, I said 'now it's better to continue because I like it'." Earlier this week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who celebrates his 60th birthday later this month, insisted that he has no plans to retire from the game. Chelsea have started the Premier League season with six consecutive wins and are aiming for a seventh against Wigan on Saturday. He said he would twice before, but didn't. Will he retire in 6 years time?? He's relatively young compared to the likes of Fergie and Wenger (who never wants to retire by the sounds of it). Anyone think it's just an idle comment?
Darkzzz_ Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Exactly, it is ages away. I don't think this will be his last job, he won't be ending his managerial career at Chelsea.
StanSP Posted 25 September 2009 Author Posted 25 September 2009 I think 2014 World Cup will be his last major job. But who for obviously it is too far away to tell. After that he might go to some minor club.
Flynny Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Definitely worth speculating over something that far away I reckon.
davieG Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 What with this and the Fryatt speculation I've been unable to sleep - thanks!
