Wycombe Fox Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 On the Ipswich 606 board, their fans are actually OK with this move. Foulmouthblue comments We certainly can't do any worse, so why not. As long as the pair of them have a condusive working relationship something positive should hopefully come out of it. How right you are
Webbo Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Tbf Taylor is widely recognised as a good coach. I suspect that it's the man management part of managing that he's not up to. Imo assistant manager seems an ideal job for him .

davieG Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 How can you be a good coach yet not be able to man-manage properly? There's a lot of things a coach in this situation wouldn't get involved in or be responsible for. Team selection - so telling people why they've been dropped Motivating Tactics and getting the message of them across to the players Discipline Contracts Overall professional and personal development and determining the priorities for individuals. Deciding on new players and how they'd fit into the team Getting rid of players Team ethos
Webbo Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 How can you be a good coach yet not be able to man-manage properly? Well, and this is only my theory, he has had a lot of success with the U21s but when dealing with grown men he starts well and then his sides always decline. It's as if his players lose respect for him or don't take him seriously, he's probably too nice. Ipswich's players might not like Keane but there's no way they'd take the piss with him. Keane can give out the bollockings and Taylor can get the players fit, improve their skills and advise Keane on the team and tactics. As I said though, it's only my theory.

I thought it was just a bit of forward planning as I understand he's a got a bit of history for getting teams promoted form the lower leagues.
