Matt Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Wayne Rooney has been warned about his future conduct by the Football Association after appearing to mouth "12th man" into a television camera following Manchester United's defeat by Chelsea. The United striker made the comment as he left the pitch at Stamford Bridge. An FA spokesman said: "Wayne Rooney has been warned as to his future conduct following remarks made yesterday (Sunday)." Sir Alex Ferguson will not face any action following his criticism of referee Martin Atkinson. Ferguson condemned the decision to award the free-kick that led to Chelsea's winning goal as "absolutely ridiculous" and said such decisions mean people "lose faith in refereeing." Some people will say good just because its Man Utd, Rooney, or Ferguson, e.t.c. But this is a joke, You can slag managers off, You can slag players off, You can slag fans off, the only people you can't slag off is these little tin gods, who keep making mistakes and in certain games (Granted in United's favour many times), and I myself didn't think the referee had that much of a bad game yesterday but I did think he favoured Chelsea slightly. This respect campaign is just a joke though, Many times I just can't see how you can defend thus respect some decisions made by the tin gods. I agree with Fergie, I don't know what others think but i'm certainly losing (I've lost it infact) faith with referees.
davieG Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Hardly likely to improve their performance. Players often have a go at refs when they're being outplayed or beaten. The bottom line is that it's just unacceptable to abuse anyone like that especially if they're trying their best and it's been proved time and again that these incidents can and often do look completely different from different angles. Finally it's an absolute joke for any one from these top teams to complain about favouritism. I bet, and know from experience that the other 15/16 teams feel like that every time they play one of them.
leicesterfox86 Posted 18 November 2009 Posted 18 November 2009 The FA seem to have taken things too far with incidents like this don't they? It takes nothing to get a fine / warning these days. This football blog looks at Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's recent fine with regard to his comments on Alan Wiley and I think it is right when it says that managers should have a freedom of speech to an extent. I'm not Fergie's biggest fan, but he was just making a point. Fair enough he only tends to do it to to distract from a poor performance, but it was a relatively light hearted comment to warrant a touchline ban and a £20,000 fine wasn't it? Maybe the FA have nothing better to do and to be fair to Ferguson (not something I love doing), it probably wouldn't have been mentioned much if it was a less high-profile manager.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 Some people will say good just because its Man Utd, Rooney, or Ferguson, e.t.c. Yep I'll be one of those , anything that goes against Man Utd and Alex Ferguson is good in my book. I agree with Fergie, I don't know what others think but i'm certainly losing (I've lost it infact) faith with referees. I can't for the life of me understand how that insufferable man can say stuff like he's losing faith with referees. You could count on one hand the decisions that have gone against United under Ferguson whereas you would need a calculator to keep up-to-date with the hundreds of decisions that have gone for United under Ferguson.
