You can see by the size of the metal/concrete pillar he hit that there is no way he was going to survive this.... you see upto the impact...

But at least he didnt know too much about it. :(

Mods feel free to merge this into the winter Olympics thread if you feel it more appropriate/ enough people have seen it..

EDIT: that first video has been removed. you can either youtube and find a version or here is a really poor quality version if you really want to see it...

What an horrific way to go.

At least he died doing what he loved and at nearly 90mph, he wouldn't have known much about it.

Still - if the track was that dangerous, why letting the sled people use it in the first place? Where's Health & Safety when you really need them?

Sounds all too sad to me. Just look at the size of that metal construction, for christ's sake!

Just seen the video excerpt and  ... The poor guy is thrown out of the sled like a hay dummy. Horrific way to die.

Is it just me or is it pretty damn obvious having huge concrete pillars next to the track (after a corner aswell I think) is a disaster waiting to happen!!!

i know what you mean. The events on that track wil go ahead after they apparently raise the wall levels to prevent anything similar happening again.

Its a shame it takes the loss of a 21 year old man's life for people t realise things need improving. :(
