Daggers Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I'm due a visit to the Harley shop now you come to mention it... As far as I'm aware - Sycamore are either in the process of, or shortly to be, an ex-HD franchise. According to a 'my mate said' rumour. Moving to Ducati for some God-forsaken reason apparently.

I pass Sycamore every day, looks to me that they are doing both, Harley`s are ideal if you need a land rover pulling out of a ditch and Uppingham being a definate green welly area they`ll alway`s have a market, if however you actually wan`t to ride a bike which goes, handles and is THE coolest brand to own then the superb thoroughbred Italian L twins are the way to go !

I have been told by a very good source that Harley will be moving to peterborogh ,next door to B.M.W which they own. This will stay as a Ducati dearlaship and there is a new Harley franchise opening in Leicester. It was meant to happen last year but they put it back till the end of this year due to the reccesion.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Didn't someone once get murdered in Uppingham? Sounds a bit dodge to me...
Corky Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I like Uppingham, used to go through there when I travelled to home matches on the bus.

I've owned more Italian machines than any sane man should - I could never agree with that. A great bike if you have the money for the far too frequent servicing, cosset it like a baby and don't ride high mileages. Sounds like it's a national push then - Silverstone have three months left trading as they refused to relocate to MK, there's a new one to open there in about a year's time.

A great bike if you have the money for the far too frequent servicing, cosset it like a baby and don't ride high mileages. And I certainly do not agree with you, just a quick background, been riding bikes for 38 years and have owned just about all makes, british, japanese and german, I service my Duke myself and it`s a piece of piss to do, it has never missed a beat and is wiyhout doubt the most fun you can have wiyh your clothes on, I have ridden a few Harley`s both here and in the US and have found them slow, cumbersome and ill handling, over rated over priced and unfortunately over here !
Houdini Logic Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Sycamore keep sending me flyers to go and try their new HDs, so would be suprised if they're going to move. Uppingham sounds like a good stop off...
Daggers Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I have ridden a few Harley`s both here and in the US and have found them slow, cumbersome and ill handling, over rated over priced and unfortunately over here ! They're shit, but I like mine.
Fatbloke Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 They're shit, but I like mine. I did`nt say they were shit but have never understood what all the fuss is about regarding them, I reckon the best way to sum them up is very well built and with torque to die for, riding in the states with they`re 55 mph speed limits and lots of straight roads and highway`s they make a certain amount of sense, I rode a fat boy from Cincinatti to Indianapolis and was very comfortable, the motor was barely ticking over, the older Italian bikes had very suspect electrics and could be quite unreliable I had a Jota for a while and it often left me high and dry in the wet, pardon the pun, the current one`s all have mostly japanese electronics and are 100%, us bikers should stick together after all anything with 2 wheels and an engine is the K9 undercarriage
