xxinxsxx Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 Hi ,Due to lack of work i've been layed off.I am seeking a new full time job and would consider any type of job .Please could anyone help??????????
jonthefox Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 fookin hell, that was easy. makes you wonder why i bothered with college.
AmericanScott Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 I'm really sorry. I thought this was a Leicester City discussion forum. Not fooking job centre plus. ps. there's a job at some shoe store in the Haymarket if you fancy it.
The Padster Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 You mean to say that I've been on the dole and living on a budget for month's now whilst job hunting and all I had to do was come and ask on an internet based discussion forum made mostly for football chatter ?!?!?! That lady in the Jobcentre sold me down the river !
kylestyle06 Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 You guys aren't looking hard enough there's loads of jobs out there.
samjohnson Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 You guys aren't looking hard enough there's loads of jobs out there. 99% of them want experience people though people looking for jobs after leaving college... Or in some cases, have been layed off... have no chance
Craig Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 You guys aren't looking hard enough there's loads of jobs out there. I fooking hate this attitude. Does my head in. Yes, there's loads of jobs out there. But there's also loads of people looking for jobs out there too. Companies don't seem to be willing to train staff up anymore either, they want experience, and if you haven't got it you're fooked. I've a degree in Criminology & Sociology, but I've no work experience to go with it apart from 5 years in customer service as a retail assistant. Yeah, the odd vacancy does pop up with no experience required, but the amount of applications for these jobs doesn't stack the odds in your favor. I've had 8 interviews since I've been job hunting (2 bar jobs, 3 retail, 2 lettings/estate agents, 1 telesales), on 3 occasions I've 'not had the experience required', on 2 the interviewer has actually asked if I think I'm 'overqualified' (with my degree), and then contacted me saying I've been unsuccessful, and 3 they haven't had the decency to get back to me. Not in Leicester, but I'm out there looking for a job for a substantial slice of each day, I'm actually not sure i could look harder and I've had no luck for about 2 months now. I've even started applying for voluntary positions, just to get back into the swing of things. Just because someone hasn't got a job, doesn't mean they're not looking hard enough.
kylestyle06 Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Go to a recruitment agency then, rather than sitting moaning about no work. Do something to bring the money in!
Craig Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Go to a recruitment agency then, rather than sitting moaning about no work. Do something to bring the money in! And how do you know I haven't been to plenty? Moron.
kylestyle06 Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 And how do you know I haven't been to plenty? Moron. Agencies are screaming for workers! Stop being so picky you stuck up ****
FoxyPV Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Agencies are screaming for workers! Stop being so picky you stuck up **** The majority pay minimum wage and expect you to sell your soul. The agencies also want experience so if you don't have any you are fooked.
kylestyle06 Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Try differen't agencies, trust me Minimum wage or no wage? It's a no brainer
davieG Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 My experience of agencies and the people that worked there was, I don't know how they managed to get their jobs because on the whole they were totally useless in every respect - of course they may have improved. Oh and that goes for those that work in the Job Centres.
FoxyPV Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Try differen't agencies, trust me Minimum wage or no wage? It's a no brainer After I finished uni (not so long ago) I was desperate for a job doing anything and because I had no experience (except bar work and coaching) I was basically told to do one. A wage is better than nothing but if no one is willing to give you a chance then what can you do.
Sir Fynwy Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Try differen't agencies, trust me Minimum wage or no wage? It's a no brainer Really? I'd never work for anything close to minimum wage and never have, if there wasn't a reasonable job to be had I'd work for myself.
Craig Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Agencies are screaming for workers! Stop being so picky you stuck up **** Answer then, where do you work? Or are you still at school? Trust me, I'm far from stuck up Yeah, I have standards, but I've worked as a kitchen porter, a telesales operative, and a retail assistant. Hardly jobs I'd have taken if I was a stuck up **** as you so kindly branded me. Moron.
lou Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 You guys aren't looking hard enough there's loads of jobs out there. Yeah just hundreds of applicants for every one of them! There really arent if you dont have years of experience... my Sons been looking for the last 6 weeks, every day and will do anything but no fecker will give him a chance. His only job was very specialised and doesnt help him with anything else but even the fact that he held down a job for 16 months and got a good reference doesnt seem to help. How are kids supposed to gain experience if no one gives them any?
lou Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Go to a recruitment agency then, rather than sitting moaning about no work. Do something to bring the money in! Oh and hes signed up at every agency he can find.
AjcW Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 How are kids supposed to gain experience if no one gives them any? Exactly. I was very lucky(and a little bit of a stalker ) to get the chance to work at reiss before I left for malaysia, and I was so grateful for the oportunity that no fucker else would give me! Even though I had no retail experience. And today I was given another chance(due to a bit of persistence again on my part, I find the personal approach is the best, dont just send your cv in somewhere, hand it in, and get a conversation going!). I reckon your son will find once he's got something the job offers will fly in... unfortunately youve just got to be patient, no matter how tedious it is ey! P.s. Lou Im PMing you with details of two places I know have been hiring recently
AjcW Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 Many thanks Alex, youre a star! No worries! Im in a good mood haha.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 21 April 2010 Posted 21 April 2010 I seen a job advertised in town, near to the haymarket, shop called Brighthouse I think
