Collymore Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 Sky+ is great but it has annoyed me a bit recently. I've noticed if a football match goes to extra time or a program over runs then the system is not clever enough to carry on recording. This was highlighted tonight when it cut off half way through David Cameron's closing speech (not that I was that bothered about hearing him) but for a TV program so bothered about giving everyone a fair share of air time I wonder how many people would have sky+ed the program and missed him? I wonder if Brown knew this and made sure he went last! I remember back in the 90's you could buy VCR recorders which had a feature called PDC (program delivery control) why don't Sky implement something like this?

Collymore Posted 15 April 2010 Author Posted 15 April 2010 there is a setting where you can add extra minutes to the length of all the programmes that you want to record i normally have 1 min before prog begins and 5 mins for after, normally enough Oh right thanks for that. Still should be made automatic though
Ford Super Sunday Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 I found the same problem. I always set my recording to start 5 mins before, and 10 minutes after. And for every game which could potentially go to Extra Time and Penalties, I set up the recording manually, to record at least two hours over the alloted end time of the programme which is advertised. Always safer than sorry!
danielpholt Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Had this issue last night, whilst recording my Capitals game. Thankfully i accidently recorded the Kings v Canucks game immediately after so i didn't miss any of the action. I didn't know about that optional run over setting. I only have one question though, does it allow you to record two programs at the same time?

Yes indeedy, Sky + boxes have two tuners so you can either watch one channel and record another, or record two simultaneously, but if you do the latter I think I'm right in saying you won't be able to watch a third channel. I'll be honest, I've never tried
danielpholt Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Thanks mate that helps me out no end. We have a crazy amount of stuff recorded, its a miracle we don't have more than 1 cross over.

fox123 Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Does anyone else have an issue with the TV Guide? It is so slow moving around the channels. I have the Sky+HD box, don't know if there is a problem with the others?
Lillehamring Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 seriously, is DavieG on holiday, he is the king of Sky hatred
lildave3 Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Yeah when i'm recording my basketball I always have to record the program immediately after it because it pretty much always goes over.

It happened once not long after it was installed, I just switched it off for 30 seconds at the plug and it's never happened again.
