davieG Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Not good enough or big enough for the Premier bound Dons. Sky Sports News understands Paul Ince has resigned as MK Dons manager, but will remain in charge until the end of the season. Ince's future at MK Dons has been the subject of speculation in the past 24 hours amid reports that he was facing the sack. The Dons have struggled this season and are out of contention for the play-offs. Ince came under fire from some of the club's fans during the home draw with Oldham in midweek and reports suggest the club have decided to look for a new manager. However, Sky Sports News understands the former Blackburn chief has decided to resign from his post even though he will take charge for the final four games of the campaign Ince only returned to MK Dons last July, but he has been able to repeat the success he enjoyed during his first spell at the club and both parties are now set to part company.
Salieri Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 After a promising start to his managerial career, it's all gone a bit tits up for the self styled 'Guvnor'.
Webbo Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 You should never go back, you're never as successful 2nd time around.
Corky Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Will he stay at a club beyond one season in his managerial career?
Part Of The Crowd Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 No surprise really. He'd lost the dressing room and had no clue how to win it back. The tactics were questionable (I.E playing our leading scorer on the wing, sending four strikers out on loan and then complaining at the lack of options.) His PR was spectacularly bad, with comments such as 'The referee last week's fault' and 'God doesn't like us' along with the classic 'We matched them for 10 minutes so I was happy'. His back room team were not up to the job and seemed amateurish. The nail in the coffin was his comments after the Oldham game, in which he told supporters not to bother turning up if they were going to mouth their opinion after the match. Having traveled up from Plymouth to go to games such as that I felt very entitled to express my disgust at the performance we had turned in. Winkelman has been very shrewd in managing to get him to resign rather than sacking him and having to pay off the rest of his contract. I have a feeling he was going to go in the summer anyway and Ince knew that, knowing that it would be very difficult to get back into management with his reputation severely damaged and having to serve a 5 match ban at any prospective new employer. He'll serve out the remaining 4 games and be in a stronger position to come back into management having only 'resigned' and only a one match ban to serve at his next club. So long Paul and thanks for all you've done, but even at a club not steeped in history you should never show complete contempt for the fans. You were fantastic the first time round but this time you've simply not been good enough. Don't let your ego get in the way of your once promising managerial career.

Didn't really though did he. He said he personally would rather be without a very small section of the crowd which booed the team. Considering the team had just got a draw to keep them on course for the second highest finish in the club's history, that's probably fair enough.
Tony Pine Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Ince only returned to MK Dons last July, but he has been able to repeat the success he enjoyed during his first spell at the club and both parties are now set to part company. ??

That's not what he said on Three Counties radio, that's what he said in an interview after the furore around what he'd said kicked in and the OS had taken down the interview that caused it.
