RizLCFC Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 MILAN MANDARIC! Did we see it coming when it happened...probably not, and welcome him with open arms...honestly maybe 50% of us! Did we say stuff like "why the heck has he gone for an unproven manager", "he should've appointed 50 other managers" YES WE DID! So after reading all the deragatory comments about Milan on this site over the last few days and yes even I can be critical of him at times, but I back him to appoint the right man. Forget Pearson he's all history now it's time to move on. We've got a good squad of players with a good foundation to build on so let's back whoever comes in (hopefully Sousa) and push for promotion. I know this is another Pearson/Mandy saga thread but I just wanted to shed some optimism on the situation.

The way I remember it, about 90% of fans shook their heads in disaproval.
davieG Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Hoos found him having worked at Southampton with him, I doubt if that hadn't been the case Mandaric would have give him a second look and after the clown Holloway I welcomed him. The bigger question still is why is he leaving, no ones prepared to say and my guess is they never will.

We'll still pay our money and support the team regardless of what has happened and no doubt we'll do the same when something worse happens in the future.

Because it's probably the same reason why every other Manager he's recruited, including Redknapp ends up in shit creek and therefore offers little or no hope of better things to come. As far as I can see Pearson was not a typical Mandaric Management appointment, cue Hoos he was a dour unimaginative type of guy who was prepared to stand up to Mandaric and that's why, along with his relative success he lasted so long. With Mandaric picking the next one I see no reason to expect any improvement because Mandaric can't change his spots.
ian the fox Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Just shows what a shit club we are behind the scenes , i was going to have a season ticket next term aswell , shant bother now ,
croftfox Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 aw come on ian. dont feel like that. you knever know who will come in. they could do an amazing job at leicester even if they have a crappy track record.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 I have no idea if it was Milan who found & appointed Pearson but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not Mandaric's biggest fan but I think the attitudes of some people who think that he must've got lucky by appointing Nige are a bit harsh. Maybe, just maybe he actually knew what he was doing...and maybe he can do the same again. I know his track record of appointing managers isn't great but I'm trying to stay optimistic. I just think that even if Mandaric managed to lure Fergie or Mourinho here & got them to commit long-term on modest wages, some people on here would still say 'he got lucky' rather than actually give him any credit for something.

The facts speak for themselves take a look at the manager's he went through at Portsmouth Bob McNab, Tony Pulis, Steve Claridge, Graham Rix, Harry Redknapp, Velimir Zajec, Alain Perrin and back to Redknapp
The Doctor Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 He also appointed Holloway, Allen and Smegson. and? Allen was a highly rated young english manager as i recall, megson had been fairly successful at getting out of the Championship with WBA and holloway had been doing a brilliant job at plymouth. They may have been failures here but milan couldn't have known that - he could only appoint them based on what they had done, what sort of future they would appear to have not what they were going to do.

And I'm not overflowing with faith in Mandaric's judgement but if people are so sure that he appointed all the shit managers then the chances are he was responsible for Pearson's appointment as well. Come on, he's an interfering old bastard so why would he take anyone else's advice about who to appoint as manager?! I just think he deserves a bit of credit for getting that one right! Not really sure why I'm arguing about this now though. It's completely irrelevant. Let's just hope whoever appoints the next bloke gets it right!
Alexikokopops Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Wasn't Pearson thanks to Lee Hoos? They worked together at Southampton if I remember right.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Wasn't Pearson thanks to Lee Hoos? They worked together at Southampton if I remember right. Would make sense but not necessarily. Hoos might have arrived at Leicester and said 'thank god I don't have to work wiht that cock Pearson any more' then Mandaric goes 'hey Lee, meet our new manager' cue awkward moment as Nige walks in... Joking aside, you're probably on the right track to be honest but it's not out of the question that Mandaric chose the manager and got the appointment right. Even if Hoos did recommend Pearson, Mandaric still had to make the final decision and I'm sure Pearson would never have come to the club if Mandaric himself didn't rate him.
Jordan Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 I seem to remember most of the reaction to Pearson signing was, "Well, at least he didn't get Southampton bloody relegated," but I might be going senile a little early.
Daggers Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 I remember there only being four people on here who were in the least bit positive about Pearson, growing to 12 by the end of the first day. Thracian demanded his sacking after the first friendly, despite not having seen it, while Ultra cried out for a belt and braces approach to the game.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Ultra cried out for a belt and braces approach to the game. Very good.

Well there's no flies on Ultra........but you can see where they've been.
