Peterborough United v LCFC

I disagree, fair enough from a Peterborough point of view they'll realise that there must be a reason why hardly any Leicester fans have bought tickets. But from a Leicester point of view, I, like others, just want to support the team. I know its only a pre-season but atleast its a chance to see Sousas style in action for the first time (for me anyway). It's not as if we'll be returning to Peterborough any time soon this season, or the next is it? ;)

Boycotting does more harm than good really. The message won't come across that your boycotting for the price, instead it will seem as if you're not supporting the team.

Nonsense.

What about Oxford? You didn't go so does that mean you weren't supporting the team? Did it do more harm than good?

No idea I was just looking into the future when local radio is sold off and we have to pay/listen. Mind you match tickets for friendlies will be £100 by then.

Not forgetting standing in a ninety minute queue for a a flat pint of Carling at £10 a pop.

As for the friendly it's not on the bbc schedule.

Leicester City have added four names to their squad as they travel to London Road to face League One Peterborough United.

Robbie Neilson, Jorrin John, Jeffrey Schlupp and Ashley Chambers are all included after missing the trip to the Kassam Stadium.

The only man missing from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Oxford United is Nicky Adams.

Squad: Weale, Logan, Neilson, Berner, Kennedy, Parkes, Hobbs, Morrison, John, King, Wellens, Verma, N'Guessan, Dyer, Oakley, Fryatt, Howard, Campbell, Schlupp, Chambers.

Gary Johnson's side should provide a stiff test for Leicester, having beaten Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a George Boyd goal.

You can listen to live and exclusive commentary of City's penultimate pre-season friendly only on Foxes Player with Rob Jones and Ian Stringer.

JAMES Wesoloswki only started 39 games for Leicester, but he crammed an awful lot into them.

The Posh midfielder experienced the good in the shape of a debut aged 18 in a Championship fixture against Cardiff and cup appearances against Aston Villa and Fulham. He even managed to score during a 4-3 defeat by Fulham.

But the Aussie-born 22 year-old also suffered the bad in the form of two broken legs, once in a friendly match against Celtic.

He would be therefore be forgiven for treading carefully tonight when his old club visit London Road for a pre-season warm-up, but that’s not the Wesolowski way. His all-action displays have been a feature of Posh’s summer matches.

Wesolowski said: “It’s really going to be fun to play against my old club. I’ll always be grateful to Leicester for giving me a start in this country.

“I joined them at the age of 14 and loved every minute of it. I made my debut against Cardiff at a time when the manager Craig Levein was giving lots of kids a chance and I felt I did well.

“The cup matches against Villa and Fulham were also memorable, but the broken legs set me back. It eventually came to the stage where I wasn’t getting a first team game so it was best for everyone that I left.

“I certainly didn’t leave with any hard feelings. I will be trying my hardest to beat them tonight, but there will be plenty of my mates in their team.”

Wesolowski, who many thought was going to be a top-flight star when he first burst on the scene, is now trying to resurrect his English career at London Road.

He proved his fitness by surviving more than 30 matches on loan at Hamilton in the hurly-burly of the Scottish Premier League last season.

‘The Accies’ wanted him back, but Wesolowski chose Posh who got their man for a nominal fee. He is now a strong contender for a starting place alongside likely skipper Grant McCann against Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the League One season next month.

Wesolowski added: “I got my career back on track at Hamilton. I managed 30-odd games and scored a few goals and that should set me up nicely for this season.

“It’s been hard work, but I’ve enjoyed it. The football has been good and the team is playing pretty well.

“I’d like to think that I will chip in with some goals this season and if I do it will help the team to a good finish.

“We all know what is expected of us this season.”

WESOLOWSKI made 58 appearances, including those as a substitute, for Leicester and scored six goals.

The Australian midfielder made 30 appearances, including those a substitute, for Hamilton and scored four goal.

Wesolowski also made four on-loan appearances for Cheltenham and eight on-loan appearances for Dundee United.

Hope Weso plays tonight, bet he'll go and score!

Were people trying to tell others to boycott that game? I think not.. So i'm not even sure how you can draw a comparison there! And nice to see you used the 'more harm than good' in a totally different context to what I used it in.. *sigh*

Is this forum just for the moaning city fans? Because as soon as someone comes along and says they're going to support the team regardless of the price, those who aren't going try to put a downer on it!

To be fair I still can't believe your accepting those prices. I go every game I can go to, but times like this when I really am ripped-off, theres no point. Dad was going to take me and I even told him he might as well not bother, save his money.

The reason Peterborough will charge this is because of attitudes like yours, I'm not saying you have a bad attitude, its a good attitude really, but I think I found mine/Dads personal support of Leicester, I think we finally found it has a line, and this game is a complete and utter rip-off. If you pay this, expect to be charged it in future.

From a Peterborough mate of mine.

Fair play to the people not going tonight. The club need to acknowledge that people will not pay extortionate prices to see a friendly against a side who were in the same league as us last season and the year before. It's a fooking rip off.

I've been to one friendly and that was enough for me. It's just not worth it. For a league game, yes acceptable but a friendly the club can fook right off. Theres a lot of Posh fans refusing to go the freindlies too.

Not been many over 2000 for the opening three home friendlies. Year after year, the pricing for friendlies is sky high and year after year shit crowds pour into London Road and people make it clear they are unhappy. The club will never learn.

Surely they'd make more money by charging £10 adults and £5 concessions.

It could be worse, you could be lumbered with paying £25 to sit and £20 to stand next season. Season tickets are just as bad, £450 to sit in the South Stand or that shitter they call the North Stand. Seriously, who puts prices up when their club goes down, very bad marketing by those at PUFC.

Would ideally like to boycott this but having serious football withdrawls.

I think I'll try to come up with a funny song about ticket prices instead.

Anyone got any ideas?

I can see why you want to go and support the team Petchy, I admire you for that but I think boycotting the game has it's positives.

If you think about it... If only like 50 Leicester fans turned up, Peterborough would question why they had such a low turn out from Leicester fans. They would no doubt find the answer and realise that it was because of their ridiculous pricing. Then in future they will hopefully lower the ticket prices for friendlys and learn not to be so idiotic about it.

I back anyone who wants to pay out of their own hard worked wages to watch us play, I think this is beyond silly though, I mean for £17 you could buy something that you can keep for a while and use a fair few times, like a few DVD's, a new t shirt or a computer game (If you are a gamer). Not only that... They are charging non season ticket holders £22 to sit in the main stand. I mean... £17 was too much but £22 :dunno: It will be interesting to see how many Peterborough and Leicester fans actually turn up for this.

If this was a competitive match then £17 would be O.K, but for a friendly they should be charging half the price of a competitive fixture.

I Wonder Why (I Wonder Why)

Your Ticket Prices are so High

Don't you know it's just a friendly?

Oh Barry Fry I wonder why...

Never get sung but provides a slight smile on a topic which is otherwise quite tragic

Are tickets available to buy on the gate tonight? Or have you all pre ordered?? Cheers

For that money it should include the gate.

Ok cheers, yes £17 is a rediculous price for a friendly, as was £14 on Saturday for the Oxford game, but wasn't a bad afternoon out and tonight should be good too, chomping at the bit for august 7th, my ticket arrived yesterday!!
