Narborough_fox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Sepang is actually impossible, you just skid everywhere.
gh09lcfc Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Very good game, but can get very hard some tracks you can lose touch on corners and stuff and skid everywhere, one im playing on at the minute im in last place. Im Vettel and managed to win the first race, two third placed finishes but now im having a shocker.
Stand UP... Posted 25 September 2010 Author Posted 25 September 2010 Yeah, i'm really struggling too. Started off with Lotus and having an absolute nightmare. Despite this, the game seems really impressive and looking forward to spending a couple of hours on it later. Also, I must be missing something simple, but how do I reduce the length of qualifying so I don't need to do the 15 minutes for Quali 1 and can just do 2/3 laps instead? before you qual/race there is an option of the length of the race weekend, you have it set as long race weekend, change it to short race weekend.
GLC Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 What difficulty is that on? What assists do you have on and what race distance are you doing? Medium, Racing line and traction control, NOT breaking help though, Full
andy_croydz Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 Medium, Racing line and traction control, NOT breaking help though, Full Cool My game arrived this morning, just started a new career with Virgin, in practice now int he first race Sakhir, fastest lap so far of 2:07 oh dear! Then again, my team mates fastest lap at this stage of practice is 2:07 too so I guess it isn't THAT bad. I'm really struggling with the traction getting out of corners. I love it though, you feel like you are fighting with the car all the time, just like a real F1 driver does. I started with no traction control and all assists turned off but the diffculty was impossible for me. I consider myself an experienced player when it comes to racing games, had loads of racing games over the years, all the Gran Turismo's, many F1's on the PS1 and PS2, F1 games on PC, all the Toca games and many more and i'm finding this a real challenge just to keep the car from spinning out. I have now turned traction control to medium and put the gears from Manual to Automatic.
stix Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 My game arrived at my old dears on thursday, but unfortunately im not back from corfu until next friday...which obviously would be fine with me being on holiday and everything....except for the fact that its fooking lagging it down with thunderstorms!!! Really cant wait to give this a go next week, on the plus side though by the time i get back FIFA 11 will of dropped through my door aswell! Bonus!
andy_croydz Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 Ok that's much better! Now 11th after the first practice session, what worries me though... i'm 11th and I did a 2:03, Webber who has got the fastest time posted a 2:00, I bet the other cars aren't pushing that hard because they are saving their engines and just getting a feel for the track. Me however... I'm pushing really hard I bet the likes of Webber will post a 1:50 when it comes to qualifying. Unless i'm wrong... Also... I love how you get alloted 8 engines a season like in real life. I thought the game would be realistic but I didn't think it would have detail like that! You really have to think about how hard you are pushing the car in Practice, Qualifying and the Race. I haven't driven in rain yet, I know I will be all over the shop when I do I'm only just getting to grips with dry conditions at the moment!
lildave3 Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 Pole position, in the rain, in a lotus Finished last! Spun it a few times and even had a drive through penalty for the smallest collision, it wasn't even a collision. They're well quick to give you warnings and that. Plus my pit stops seem to take ages. It's the opposite to every other F1 game ever, usually it's qualifying that's impossible, but you blitz the race!
Stand UP... Posted 25 September 2010 Author Posted 25 September 2010 Can not get off this game, managed to qualify 11th in my Lotus and just cant finish the first race with 20 laps set, it is such tense racing especially with it on hard, with no assists apart from auto gears
andy_croydz Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 Pole position, in the rain, in a lotus *Cuff* Respect! I finished the first race in Bahrain in 20th, did full race distance, my eyes are killing now Had bad luck in Bahrain, got a puncture halfway through. Just qualified in 10th in Australia in my Virgin car, started the race... First corner got a bit hairy with all the cars flying into it and i allegadly caused an accident and got penalised with a bloody drive through penalty Anyway, done the penalty and now battling for 22nd place with Bruno Senna. Only about 6 laps into a 50 lap race here Gunna pause it when Match of The Day is on though. My head feels fooked, it's likwe i'm on some acid trip and everything is spinning haha. Definitely need to rest my eyes soon.
Narborough_fox Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 I'm shite at races, i always spin get pissed off and restart the race.

Now I know what it feels like for real F1 drivers When you are bombing towards a corner and trying to overtake someone in front it becomes a real challenge not to spin off or hit them.

andy_croydz Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 I'm shite at races, i always spin get pissed off and restart the race. I'm playing with a steering wheel and pedals, I think on this game a wheel with pedals really comes in handy. If I was playing this with a controller it would be near impossible. I always try and ease on the accelerator when coming out of corners with the pedals and it seems to work well. I haven't driven in the rain though, I bet i'll spin loads even with the wheel and pedals.

I do have traction on medium actually thinking about it Yeah it is a proper challenge, the noise of them behind you shits you up
Stand UP... Posted 25 September 2010 Author Posted 25 September 2010 Does traction control help or not? Definatley helps, even on medium its a struggle to come out of them tight bends without spinning do u get damage on cars? yep full body damage

I definitely need to take more rests in races though, maybe every 30 mins just have 5-10 mins break cos otherwise i'll end up with a huge headache If you are finding it tough not to spin... Try and put traction control on medium and if you find it too difficult still then put the traction control on full. I might have my first taste of wet weather driving soon because the Aussie race that i'm currently doing has a 38% chance of rain. The forecast says light rain but so far it's still dry and I started with dry tyres so it was a good gamble. I almost started with intermediates but just went with the drys instead.

No problem, i will have to try that soon What set up do you tend to go for? where you can adjust the setting's in the engineer paddock...

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 25 September 2010 Posted 25 September 2010 Right then - who's setting up an official Foxes Talk Grand Prix? (I get credited with the idea, but will not be setting it up, thats not my thing!)
