davieG Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 I used to stand on my seat at Filbert Street when i was a kid, i loved it I used to stand on my feet at Filbo
LCFC-ARAB Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Or the fan could ask for a ticket at the back if they intend to stand, surely simpler and doesn't require LCFc to be seen to be encouraging standing at other clubs. I've done this plenty of times and always get tickets near the front, it's asif they do it on purpose! so i just stoped asking and always move to the back, unreserved seating is the only way this will be fixed, like you have said many times
Narborough_fox Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 The away experiences of standing that I have had, Barnsley 2008 and Peterborough 2010, I mean wow. The atmosphere is always so much better standing, I never had the chance to visit the Filbert street so have never experienced a proper home atmosphere of standing all game and singing. At the Walkers I feel all Health and Safety regulations and the stewards have drained the atmosphere out of the walkers and I'm sure many other grounds.

Guest Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 That I do agree with. It would be so simple for the club to ask you when you buy away tickets whether you intend to stand or sit at the game, then they could give you a ticket either towards the front or back of the away end accordingly. Sadly the club, the authorities and football in general won't admit that standing happens, so I doubt something like this will ever come to fruition. I've suggested this at the FCC, and was told that away tickets are sold according to the instructions of the home club. Or the fan could ask for a ticket at the back if they intend to stand, surely simpler and doesn't require LCFc to be seen to be encouraging standing at other clubs. I've tried asking for tickets at the back when buying away tickets, and have often come across the above problem and our ticket office have been unable to sell tickets further back than, say, the first 15 rows. I've done this plenty of times and always get tickets near the front, it's asif they do it on purpose! so i just stoped asking and always move to the back, unreserved seating is the only way this will be fixed, like you have said many times Unreserved seating will not happen, not just because of the stewarding implications, but because they can only sell 85% of the total capacity of the area. It's also not that easy segregating an area to allow unreserved seating at the WS; the North Stand would be the only stand capable, and they won't swap the Kop.

Not that it always helps because my 'reserved' back seats are often already occupied but then you just smile and find somewhere else even if it means down the front and sitting.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Stop whining you miserable gits. Health and safety comes first. You would be the first ones to complain, if you or a family member was to get hurt as a result. Grow up, and shut up. If you can't watch a game without standing, then you are sad people.

It's nothing to do with Health and Safety, it's all about control. Didn't they tell you that in training? Or do they only tell the proper coppers?

What a load of rubbish, you sit down, i'll stand up, i won't get in your way, you don't poke me in the back to sit down when people in front of me are standing up, ok?

Looking at the situation balencing the risk and liklihood of anthing happening I believe a dynamic risk assesment would show that it is highly unlikely there would be any incidents from a group of people standing. However attempting to force a group of people to sit down against their will would probably inrease the liklihood and also raise the amount of people involved so the frequency of incident would probably be greater. In conclusion it's probably better for us to stand, thanks for the advice.

ian_marshall Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 The stewards were an absolute joke yesterday. For the past ten or so years I've always torn out the ticket from the booklet and handed it over, showing the book too. Yesterday I got told in a really aggressive tone that if I do it again I'll not be allowed in pathetic. I got similar treatment outside SK3 on Saturday. Just pulled my season ticket out of my pocket and was in the process of turning to the correct page with no intention whatsoever of taking the ticket out of the booklet, when one of the stewards approached me in quite a rude manner telling me not to remove the ticket from the booklet.

If people prefer to stand up then they'll do it, what are you part of the no stand up police?

Sincerely hope you're kidding. "Me or a family member" is never going to get 'hurt' by standing at a football match because it is NOT DANGEROUS. The Taylor Report is simply another excuse for legislation which allows the authorities a little bit more power over the people, just one part of millions of rules and regulations which are slowly giving a few "people of power" the ability to control every aspect of the 'peasants'' lives. The authorities must've been crying out for something like Hillsborough to happen in order to give them the necessary excuse to bring a spontaneous, exciting and expressive event such as a football match into line with the rest of the oppressive and bleak (but easy to maintain control over) "modern society". The same thing is happening at gigs, festivals, clubs and bars etc - anywhere where freedom of expression and fun take precedence over dismal servitude to a "chosen few". And the fans who choose to stand and sing regardless of the 'rules' at football matches are just a small part of saying "fook you" to that...
