Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 I'm off to Croatia on Saturday and I'm trying to persuade my girlfriend that she wants to go and see Hajduk Split against NK Zadar on Sunday evening. Am I going to get killed by the Torcida? I seem to remember they're notoriously right wing although I could be making that up. I'm hoping LCFC ARAB and his Encyclopaedic knowledge of European ultra groups and fans in general can help me out here.
Fosse Boy Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 You'd be safer going to a Dinamo Zagreb game at the moment, the Bad Blue Boys are currently boycotting their games in protest at their club's Vice President.
haraven Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 They are notorious for having some real muppets in their club. On another note, I've been to Split, and the city is great - and people were really friendly, so I doubt it's dangerous to attend a football match. But you'll find muppets in most clubs, some have less tho.
Shrenchel Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 I imagine once they realise you're some dopey english cvnt they'll sell you a ticket in some sparsely populated area of the stadium well away from the nutters. Always been my experience in eastern europe anyway, including in zagreb. Also most croatians are racists as fvck so I wouldn't let a group of them being slightly more racist put you off going to a match.
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 Why don't you go and see local rivals RNK Split playing? They just got promoted to the Prva HNL. On a sidenote, they're facing Hajduk at home on the 29th.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2010 Author Posted 19 August 2010 Cheers for the responses. Now I just have to persuade my girlfriend it's how she wants to spend our first night in Split. I'm not going to lie, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there Why don't you go and see local rivals RNK Split playing? They just got promoted to the Prva HNL. On a sidenote, they're facing Hajduk at home on the 29th. We're only in Split for a few days. I had a look at the fixtures and I think this is the only one that fits in with our plans. On the 29th I'll be at a festival here
Guest Bilo Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 Having been to Split I can confirm it's a beautiful city but the average Hajduk fan makes Nick Griffin look like a hippy. Croatia itself is a pretty friendly country with some great sights though, so don't let it put you off. As Shrenchel says though, they're likely to place you in an empty part of the stadium well away from the SS. Can't imagine you'll have any problems.

On the 29th I'll be at a festival here Went to a festival on the same site in July. Bit small and the club is fvcking bobbins but apart from that it's spot on.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2010 Author Posted 19 August 2010 Went to a festival on the same site in July. Bit small and the club is fvcking bobbins but apart from that it's spot on. Is that the Garden Club? We're camping there but hadn't made any plans to actually go there. It was started by UB40's former producer. Glowing accolade if ever there was one.
Shrenchel Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 Nah the garden club is in Zadar (that's actually really nice although more of a bar really.) There's a club called Barbarella's on the festival site itself, which is where the music carried on when the stuff outside finished at 1. An over-crowded, horifically sweaty shitbox basically. Might be alright when it's not absolutely rammed, depends how many cvnts turn up to the festival I guess.

I saw a mix from last year's festival called "One Night at Barbarella's". Makes sense now. I think we're staying at the Garden Petrcane, which is run by the same people as the Garden Zadar I think. I actually really have no idea. I'm camping somewhere. It's within the region of the festival. We'll see what happens.
Father Ted Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 I originate from near Knin which isn't too far from Split. I'm a Serb like many from the old 'Krajina' region. I don't see why you would get battered but you might be shocked about some of the racist abuse! If you get a chance go to Krka waterfalls not far from there, lovely place
Guest Bilo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Not a bad stadium it has to be said, in a great location as well.
