dandannieldanok Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Thought all 3 of our central midfielders were good last night. Oakley seems to have found his niche at this stage of his career; sitting in front of the back four, collecting the ball, and distributing it to our more dangerous attacking players like Dyer. Without the ball, he snapped into tackles really well. Look at the Cardiff midfielders last night, most of them couldn't control a ball never mind play a pass, we should be grateful with what we've got. Of course Oakley isn't faultless, but he's doing a decent enough job at the minute.
artursteppe Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Yep, along with Wellens (2nd half), Robbie Neilson, Dyer and of course King. You got it bang on the nail! Oakley - Man of the match, just, from Dyer, Neilson, King, and a much better performance in the second half from Wellens than his first. Spot on!
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Whoever started this thread is a total div. I've been one of the few who have stuck by Oakley, always rated him. Played brilliantly last night, showed he still has it. He suits the 5 man midfield because he has wellens and King to do his running. Very good at breaking up play and distribution. Keep it up Matty !

martyn Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Misplacing simple 5 yard passes which he did countless times last season had nothing to do with being out of position. Lets face facts, he was a waste of space for much of last season. I'm delighted that he's back to form so far this year, he really seems to be benefitting from our change in approach. Long may that continue.
Father Ted Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 I cannot understand why Oakley is starting and he is Captain. With our "new style" of football it's imperative that we can break forward quickly, Oakley ALLOWS the opposition to get back into position, hence we seem devoid of ideas (except give it to Dyer). This is very predictable and reminds me of when we got relegated to League 1, Oakley is not fit enough to start - slow, predictable passing he is not good enough for the championship. Thoughts? Under a Nigel Pearson style team this season - Possibly. Under a Paulo Sousa style team this season - No. I know that Oakley hasn't been great in his time at Leicester but he could be vital to us this season in his new role.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 The presence of Abe on the bench definitely motivated Oakley tonight. It was a pleasure to see him give a real captain's performance. I hope he can manage to do the same on Saturday! Wouldn't say it was Abe that motivated him, He's been pretty good all season in my eyes. Captain fantastic last night. Man of the match for me. Well on par with King.
North-LondonFox Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 every team needs a grafter in the centre of the park abd when he's playing well Oakley is perfectly adequate - hopefully Abe will give us some options in mf along with the trio from last night so things are looking good. I haven't been to impressed with Moussa from the little i'v e seen so far though - anyone else?
broughtonblue Posted 15 September 2010 Posted 15 September 2010 Thanks. I re-kindled this thread because for once I thought the bloke deserved a bit of credit at last.
