The Youth of Today..

Recommended Posts

when i was a kiddo i was always down the local field playing football rounders cricket or anythign to keep me and my pals amused!!

why is it now the local field is deserted.. everytime i drive/walk past i dont see anyone having fun etc..

i blame technological advances in society!! Now Kids just hide behind computers.. in some ways its easier to socialise this way. Kids have mobile fones so they dont have to meet people to chat to them, they have TV to entertain them rather than board games to play with friends

i predict in 10 years time the country will come to a social standstill in certain areas such as activity clubs as these kids who become adults will just stay indoors and be unsociable

whats everyone else opinions??

Certainly is down to technology.

I was always out and about as a lil 'un playing footy and cricket.

Now, as you say, their are far more things to entertain you in the home (computers, Sky tv etc etc) so kids see less reason to leave the house to have fun etc.

It will lead to a higher number of weight problems too I fear aswell as the anti social aspect.

I used to go to the park everyday but then some older kids ruined the place for the younger ones. As a young kid, you don't want to go to a park and be surrounded by people doing drugs and things lke that. I'm less socialable now but atleast I'm not involved in drugs or a 'bad crowd'. It might be a lot better there now but I've sort of missed the boat now.

I got down to the park 2 or 3 times a week and play football. I love Fridays because about 18 of us all got out and play football then we go out later and have a good night out :D

Having said that, i do think quite a lot of kids do go out, the problem is, none play games, they just stand around in groups of 30, smoking and drinking and mugging younger children. I know 4 people who have been mugged/attacked at knighton park in the last month

It does put you off from going to the park :(

Although I spend a lot of time on me pc now as a kid I never had a playstation/ nintendo or any other computer game. I hated stuff like that, you could allways find me playing football or building a den down at the old fallen down tree.
