marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Mrs Marbella has organised a bit of sun, sea and whatever before the winter. It's kind of a surprise so I do not at this time know where we are going other than driving to Gatwick Wednesday afternoon, she likes a bit of a wind up does Mrs M. She is something of a 'tropical flower', loves the heat and the sea and anyway I have been told to pack my diving gear so I'm thinking maybe Red Sea or just possibly somewhere more exotic.... Knowing her there will be no sat TV or internet though, still good to get a break! Anyway should be back just about in time for a trip to Portsmouth on the 25th, so I have given Paulo until then to sort this mess out. He had better have turned us into a 'lean, mean, footballing machine' or I shall be wanting answers!... Good luck to the rest of you, hope you get to see some winning football... Fosse Boys, 'iligitimi non carborundum'.... And
Corky Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Are you under the thumb? Going on holiday in the football season Have a good time
marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 Are you under the thumb? Going on holiday in the football season Have a good time The perils of a rich wife... Still I need to keep in her good books if I intend to get to plenty of games this season. And thanks...
marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 i wouldn't hold your breath Thats what the diving gear is for...
FoxyPV Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 By the time you come back we'll have won all our games, truly humiliated the Chav and being on course for automatic promotion.
MikeyT Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Clearly we will be near the top of the table when you get back putting in amazing performances and scoring a shed load of goals. You're gonna miss out!
marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 By the time you come back we'll have won all our games, truly humiliated the Chav and being on course for automatic promotion. Trust me to disappear during the period that we fight our way to the top of the league and discover self-delivering bacon...<_< I've been told not to even think about taking the laptop, so our destination will be somewhat out of the way. I'm hoping for one of those island groups in the Indian ocean but we are not taking anti-malarials so I doubt we are going that far. It's hurricane season too, so the caribean is out of the question, not Southern Africa either, still winter and too cold for my wife. I think it will most likely be the Red Sea, or maybe one of the out of the way Greek islands, Mrs M spent a fair part of her very well misspent youth sailing the eastern Mediteranean, back in the day when every island did not have it's own airport. Just as long as it isn't Sharm el bloody Sheikh.
Messi Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Any reason your wanting to go to Portsmouth on the 25th? Sorry to rain on your parade, but we play on the 24th
poopbutt Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Thats what the diving gear is for... i was hoping you'd make a holiday related joke to my comment
marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 Any reason your wanting to go to Portsmouth on the 25th? Sorry to rain on your parade, but we play on the 24th Oh...Shit. The 'Blue Army' fixtures list still has it for 25th, should have checked I s'pose, going with 'expat' mates who are Pompey fans so no ticket required, bummer to miss. Have a 'business' meeting the afternoon of the 24th, not really important but I get about £600-700 for turning up and giving my 'expert' opinion, decent money for less than 2 hours work... Anyone know if it Is it on TV?

I'm off on Saturday - no illusions, no expectations just 38 degrees, a sun lounger, 8 swimming pools, 5* ish, and all inclusive deal. I will dive a bit, swim a bit and gin a bit and love a lot. It's Disney Land for lazy grown ups that really need a break and want 7 days of nothing rather than sightseeing. It has its place.

Nothing against Sharm really, just that we have stayed in Naama Bay many times, did my advanced open water course at Camel diving and got drunk in their upstairs bar. The Hard Rock has the best air con ever, take a jacket, really! Be nice to go diving somewhere different though, fancy Truk lagoon in the Marianas but it is expensive and a very long way, not this time obviously... Are you staying at the Sofitel, 5* at the north of the bay? Last time we were there it had an excellent Indian restaurant, sitting outside, quite high up with great views and very decent food. Would go back just for that, assuming it is still there of course...
marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 Just done my homework, the Pompey game is on Sky 3... Fooks me right up, was going to get Mrs M to drive us there on saturday, she was going shopping with her expat girl friends while the men go to the footy, decent meal and a piss up later. Parade well and truly rained on...

marbelladave Posted 7 September 2010 Author Posted 7 September 2010 it was a toss up really between packages but we ended up at the Grand Hotel with a big suite..... happy days, I hope! If you like a bit of indian I recomend the restaurant at the Sofitel, few years since we were last there but the food was decent by any standards, very good indeed for Egypt. The Sofitel is at the north end of Naama bay, sit on the terrace and the views are spectacular, not cheap but not outrageous either. Had a quick look on the Sofitel website, says it is still there, couldn't resist checking out the Camel bar too, looks a lot smarter than I remember...
