davieG Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk...cation-12181643 This is something I've always advocated and felt passionate about. In my last two jobs, one private and one public where I was responsible for apprentice/trainee recruitment I pushed fro and introduce a scheme where the best apprentices having successfully achieved good grades with their part time HNC/HND studies were sponsored for full time/part time University Degrees. I have to say it was considered very successful and I've never understood why businesses should be allowed to benefit from recruiting top class people without contributing to the educational cost.
Suffolk_fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I wish more companies were the same, Davie - as soon as someone hits 25, they don't qualify for Apprenticeship funding, and many companies don't want to pay the £700 odd quid for a level 2, let alone over £1000 for a level 3!! Fortunately, my college is enlightened enough to pay for my Level 4 - Happy days!

Completely agree, its something I have said companies should be pushed into and I am lucky enough to be doing it. Sadly, it appears the complete emphasis on profit and money-making within industries has seen such an option die away.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I went to a KPMG Christmas do once and it was one of the worst nights of my life
Webbo Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I've know about this since we started looking around for 6th form colleges for my eldest. We're hoping she can get on something like this.
