MikeyT Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Have a go. I can't figure out how it knows. http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/games/magic-gopher-central.swf EDIT. Link isn't working!!! Type in Magic Gopher game on google and go on the first link.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 how the f**k can it do tht tried 5 times and got it right all five
marko Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 It's just a clever formula. Do the same number every time and it'll be different symbol each time.
marko Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 ha, i win you uppity rodent. your maths must be dodgy then because it's impossible for the gopher to lose if you follow the exact instructions!!!
The Doctor Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 your maths must be dodgy then because it's impossible for the gopher to lose if you follow the exact instructions!!! not it's not. 12, 1+2 = 3, 12-3= 9, it didn't get the symbol for 9.
marko Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 not it's not. 12, 1+2 = 3, 12-3= 9, it didn't get the symbol for 9. You must have looked at the wrong symbol then because no matter what number you pick, after the maths you always end up with a mutiple of 9 and 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72 and 81 all have the same symbol
MikeyT Posted 16 March 2011 Author Posted 16 March 2011 it's guessed everything right for me. Bastard rodent.
The Padster Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 3/3 for the sniggering little gobshite. *dons tin foil hat
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Tried it 3 times... I beat the rodent!! As James said, you can not beat the rodent. Your answer will always be a multiple of 9 so will always get it right no matter what you pick as every multiple of 9 is the same symbol. Anyone who says they defeated the gopher is unable to do basic maths e.g, if your 2 numbers are any of the following 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, or 09 the answer will always be 0 as in the case of say 05 --}0+5 =5 --}05-5 =0 so your symbol will be 0. If your 2 numbers are any of the following 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 the answer will always be 9 as in the case of say 17 --} 1+7=8 --}17-8=9 Carrying on this basic formula any number picked in the 20's would end up as 18, 30's end up as 27 etc. Hope this explains it...
