supedaj Posted 7 June 2005 Posted 7 June 2005 - izzet, lennon, savage and claridge - super signings and at a great price for what they contributed - collymore, cottee and elliott for the same reasons (maybe in different doses to the above 3 though) - Selling Heskey for £11m - Stephen Hughes - peanuts - Williams - i know people doubt him (I do at times) but eventually will be worth more than what we payed for him - Maybury - looks a class act and wouldnt really be overvalued at £2m for any prem side - McCarthy - signs are there - only time will tell - Selling Matt Piper for 3.5m - he hasnt done anything since so is v good money for him - Selling Panic-Buy for anything over £15! We are lucky we got anything for him!
supedaj Posted 8 June 2005 Posted 8 June 2005 Heres another - Pontus Kamaark - think he was less than £1m but marked Juninho in teh final that day like he was worth 10 times that...

shen Posted 8 June 2005 Posted 8 June 2005 Dickov... Without his goals we might not have existed today
supedaj Posted 9 June 2005 Posted 9 June 2005 yep indeed (Dickov) althou the amount Blackburn paid for him might be one of their shrewdest buys
Filbert_Ross Posted 9 June 2005 Posted 9 June 2005 other than O'neils bargins, I think the Dickov & Deane signings by Basset were pretty shrewd.
davieG Posted 9 June 2005 Posted 9 June 2005 other than O'neils bargins, I think the Dickov & Deane signings by Basset were pretty shrewd. 121315[/snapback] Except they were signed to keep us in the Premier, which they didn't.

Well that's what people used to throw my way when I slated that cockney tool and his continued salary.
BartonFox Posted 9 June 2005 Posted 9 June 2005 Best piece of business is the capture of Brian Little no question, he sorted out the pub culture and kick started the 'glory years' of the 90's and early 00's. Players come and go as do managers, but it is the manager that buys the players and gels them together, we owe Little even if he did walk out.
