davieG Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 My suggestion, we drop the round robin method and go for a World Cup style tournament of 2 leagues of 3 where each team plays each team in their league, 3 games each. The two teams finishing bottom would drop out and the top two teams wound play the team finishing second in the other league, 2 games. The two winning teams would play each other in the final. This would mean there would only be 9 games which could easily be completed in 2 hours. We could then use St Margaret's and start at 10, arriving at 9:45. It would also be cheaper. The only downside I can see is two teams would only play 2 games whilst the finalist would play 6 games. Venue: St Margaret'sPastures: Date: Saturday 9thJuly Time: 9:45am for 10:00KO until 12:00Cost / Subs: £25/hr x 2hrs = £50 / 6 teams = £8.30 / 7 players = £1.20ish each player NB: Each Team will be responsible for £8.30 which must be paid before weplay. So if everyone can get there by 9:45 at the latest to make sure we getthe full allocated time and that we pay in advance. Tournament: 6 Teamsof 6 plus one Sub – player names to be drawn Qualifying Round Two Leagues (e.g. Izzett League & Lennon League) of 3 teams where each team in the league plays the other. Team names to be drawn 6 matches played in tandem 15 minutes each 5 minutes allowed for changeover 3 points for a win, goal difference etc Bottom 2 teams eliminated* At this stage if any of the qualifying teams are short of their 7 players they can select substitutes from the losing teams on lowest scoring team to have first choice then the 2nd lowest etc. Semi- Finals Teams finishing 1st & 2nd play-off to determine finalist (2 matches) Winners of the Izzett League will play the Runners up of the Lennon League Winners of the Lennon League will play the Runners up of the Izzett League In the event of a tie each player including subs to take a penalty, if still tied then sudden death rules will apply for subsequent penalties Final The two winning semi-finalist to contest the final (1 match) If a draw after fulltime – penalty shoot out, best of 7 (every player) then sudden death. Tournament timings Qualifying Round 6 matches played in tandem 12 minutes each 5 minutes allowed for changeover between each game and the semi-finals starting Total time 51minutes Semi- Finals 2 matches played consecutively 15 minutes each 5 minutes allowed for changeover between each game and the final starting Total time 40 minutes Final 20 minutes, Total time 20 minutes Winner's Parade 5 minutes Overall time 1hour 56 mins Team Colours: Team A – Yellow; Team B -Royal Blue; Team C - Black/Navy Blue; Team D – White; Team E – Red; Team F -Green Referees: TBA PlayingRules: Match duration– see above Players shallonly represent the team in which they have been selected to play. Roll on /offsubs at the goal that they are defending when ball is out of play. No headheight rule (Goalkeepers must throw the ball out, under shoulder height) If passedback the keeper must not handle the ball. Onlygoalkeepers are allowed in the goal area. If an attacker goes into thearea, unless he directly affects the play (which would result ingoalkeepers ball), play just continues. If the defender goes into the area and directly affects the play(accidental or not) then a penalty is given, if the player goes into the areabut doesn't directly affect play, then play continues. If a player passes the ball back to the keeper, then the keeper cannotdirectly pass it back to that player. Any freekicks are in-direct. Throw-ins andcorners can be kicked in. No Offsides. No added timee.g. for ball going out of play, lost balls, injuries, substitutions. The rest of the game rules are as per 11 a side rules.
Maybes Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Surely if it is 2 leagues consisting of 3 teams then each team would only play 2 games in the group stage?
davieG Posted 1 April 2011 Author Posted 1 April 2011 Surely if it is 2 leagues consisting of 3 teams then each team would only play 2 games in the group stage? Yea you're correct I was mixing it up as it's 3 games in total for each league. So a bigger downside than I said, I'll edit my post.
ozleicester Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Personally have a preference for round robin as it allows for greater number of minimum games, however, as a football whore, ill take any option. Can imagine some people might be slightly discouraged to travel a long way with a potential of only 2 matches?
Wilkesy Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Both options are fine by me. Can't see why people are complaining about an 8.45am start - its once over the summer! Unless its getting there for that time thats the issue?
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 i was all up for the 8:45 option to be honest but dont make much difference! would like to play more games
General Smuts Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Im a bit skeptical of travelling all the way from Herts and then only playing 2 games but im good to go whatever.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Lets just set the 9am start!!!! or do it on a sunday!!
