Pink Floyd in Live 8 reunion

Pink Floyd will play together at the Live 8 concert in London on July 2, it was confirmed today.

The performance will be their first since a concert at Earls Court in 1981.

"Like most people I want to do everything I can to persuade the G8 leaders to make huge commitments to the relief of poverty and increased aid to the third world," said David Gilmour, guitarist. "Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if reforming for this concert will help focus attention then it's got to be worthwhile."

First concert since 81??.. Surely they must mean something different as I remember them touring Europe in the early 90's

Hopefully I will have tickets, (people will probably say not again but i'm gonna have to say it...) i'm going just the whole reason of the event (Make Poverty History) but the other reason is just to see Coldplay alone, theres gonna be some amazing bands there, but just Coldplay alone will make me happy!

well the very first lineup was with Syd Barrett, but he died before they became really famous... and yes, the tour in the 90's was obviously without lead singer Roger Waters...
