Eriksson: "Coming soon to play in PL"

The owners' demands for Sven-Goran Eriksson, 63:

Take Leicester to the Premier League.

The road begins with a training camp in Sweden from the morning and in an exclusive interview with SPORT-Expressen he talks about the nice feeling for the visit, mistakes last year and how much he wants to build up Leicester to a wealthy Premier League club.

- I am ready to stay here for a long time, says Eriksson.

There are transfer times. When SPORT-Expressen, when Sven-Goran Eriksson he is on his way to Leicester's second workout for the day. The phone runs hot - new players will be bought.

"Just one goal"

The team will be sharpened in order to compete out West Ham and Birmingham teams last year played in the Premier League.

- It's full speed but it is nice. There's only one goal and that is to go up in the Premier League, says Eriksson with calm tone.

- But soon it will be Sweden. It will be nice. Hope the pitches are fine, and it shall be according to the reports I have received, says Sven-Goran Eriksson.

In the morning arrive in Leicester to Uppsala and on Tuesday night awaiting the first game against Sirius in the Students' IP.

- We received a request and I jumped. It is very, very good conditions in Sweden this time of year as well so it will be perfect for the players. It feels special, it was a few years ago I was here with a team. There are three good matches, said Eriksson who came to Leicester in October 2010.

When was the last club to beat a direct lift, but during the spring season came adversity and a club who first sniffed the top division lost my grip.

Admits mistakes

For SPORT-Expressen now admits Sven-Goran Eriksson that they made no mistake from the time he took over.

The lessons will pay off this season.

- I came in roughly in the middle of the season. We needed players and there pretty quickly. We probably took a little too inexperienced players. They had no experience in the league, Championship, says Eriksson and continues:

- It was one of the reasons why we conceded so much goals. We let in goals as a team that would go out of the league and wern scored a goal as a team that could go up. You need experience in this league.

- I've seen games there before. But there are 46 matches and tough matches. Does not matter if you lead the series and meet the team who is last, it is always difficult. It is good teams in the leauge and if they aren't that good they are at least fighting as hell.

- Well, you're right (laughs). We have recruited six or seven players already and hope to get a couple more. We need players who know this league and it makes these players. They have lots of experience.

Ranégie not topical

Eriksson is developing:

- Kasper Schmeichel is a really good goalie, and the last one we acquired, Mathew Mills of Reading, is one of the better defemeders in this league.

- The decisions taken as by-case basis. There is always a limit. The economy they control, and I suggest players. So they say yes if the price is okay for them.

- I know. I know who the player is, but do not know if it is so relevant to us right now.

Yesterday's big rumour in England was that the club address the injury-prone Owen Hargreaves, a former Manchester United, could be reunited with Sven-Goran Eriksson.

- It was more a joke than serious. Is it that he wants to come and is healthy, so I will accept him.

Will meet Real Madrid

When Leicester was harvested training camp in Sweden waiting for another camp in Austria later this summer and training match at King Power Stadium against Real Madrid on 30 June.

Sven-Goran Eriksson has a year left on his contract and an option for another two years.

He is ready to build the Leicester to a big club in the Premiership - for several years beyond option years.

- I am ready to stay here long. This club will soon play in the Premier League and already have a stable organization. The hope is that happening now, next spring, this season. But there are no guarantees in football. But the goal is very, very clear to the owners (including billionaire Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn)

Interesting about making mistakes too.

Sven is very honest in interviews. Everybody does mistakes but it isn't Fergie or Redknapps thing to admit them.

Cheers.

Hargreaves thing 'more of a joke' than anything. Happy with that tbh.

The same will be when he said last season about bringing in Beckham, oh and everyone insane we were instantly attracting or signing. He is constantly been taken literally by the media (on purpose sometimes) which must be extremely frustrating.

On a side note, I bet Sven would be great in a sitcom as the awkward but suave wise-cracking foreign roomate remake of Man About the House

There's about 10 Swedish krona to the pound. If you work on the basis he's got around £130 million (which is a figure I seem to remember being bandied about) then you're looking at around 1.3 billion Swedish krona.
