Bettsj2 Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 Any combination of any of our midfielders will be too good for any team in this division.

lcfcnoely Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 Any combination of any of our midfielders will be too good for any team in this division. Haha that's the spirit ! We are different class
Bettsj2 Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 That sounds incredibly biased, but I do agree with you. Any team except Wet Spam maybe. I dont think even they can touch us. Nolan - Not as good as King Parker - Not as good as Fernandez (trust meh!!) Noble - Not as good as Wellens Cant name another one of their midfielders

Noble - Not as good as Wellens Cant name another one of their midfielders Sorry, I think Nolan and Noble are at least as good as King and Wellens. As for Parker, I can't see him being with the Hammers by the end of the month. He is class, though. You didn't mention Johnson! Could be our best one, I think.
marbelladave Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 Lots of very positive thoughts, though for the life of me I can not see why...... Last season our midfield was routinely distroyed by all the better teams in the division and what has actually changed? Actually not a lot, Johnson is nowhere near match fit, Fernandez has only just arrived and has not played 1 minute of pre season for us and although I think Danns is a pretty good player, I do not believe he is the commanding figure we desperately need. I think, given time there could be a pretty good midfield in there somewhere, but tomorrow I see us starting with King, Danns and Wellens, not much of an improvement on last season to be honest. I hope I am wrong, but I think tomorrow will be something of a reality check for us........

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 Fernandes and Danns to play and do the chasing/ creating leaving King to do what he does best. Wellens can then come in for one of Fernandes or Danns if they are having a stinker or injured. Johnson likewise with King although if he can get himself fit Kingy will have to keep his game up and not go missing to stay in the team.
Messi Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 King will be dropped if he has to avoid going missing, cause he goes missing for the majority of the game, every game.

I normally like your posts but if you think our (central) midfield hasn't been vastly improved (competition wise at least) then you are clearly barking.
Raw Dykes Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I normally like your posts but if you think our (central) midfield hasn't been vastly improved (competition wise at least) then you are clearly barking. I have to agree with you. We can now use an entirely new midfield 3, just made out of players who are all arguably better than the best we had last season. Plus, there are now more players to choose from, meaning the midfield isn't going to be affected by fatigue like at the end of last season, and only very rarely will it be affected by injuries and suspensions. Our midfield, which was already good, is so much better than it was last year, it's almost embarrassing.

I think you have answered your own question, there is not a trully commanding player to be seen, Fernandez and Johnson could be those players but are totally unproven with us. I'm fitter than Johnson going on last weeks performance and I havn't played a'proper' game in more than 20 years!... Against Cov it will be Danns plus two from last season, can't see how that will be good enough. I have to agree with you. After a string of easy victories in Jan/Feb our midfield fell apart against the better sides that we faced to wards the end of the season! Amy way , the M1 is calling......
Raw Dykes Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 After a string of easy victories in Jan/Feb our midfield fell apart against the better sides that we faced to wards the end of the season! I think the main reason for that was because they were all knackered. That's hardly surprising seeing as 3 of them had to play every single match with only one other player to step in. This will not be a problem this time around.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I love Kingy and i know it's something that has been debated to death on this forum but there is no denying his goals are invaluable. However, although i do think he does little things which i think go unnoticed he really does need to add more to his game if he wants to cement a place in this side. My starting midfield when everyone is fit would be: CDM. Fernandes RCM. Johnson LCM. Danns However, with Wellens being captain he is pretty much nailed on for a place for the majority of games, i do like Wellens but i think he tries the Hollywood pass waaaayyy too much for my liking, if he kept it short and simple with the odd attempt at a defence splitting pass then he would be a much better player for it IMO. I remember last season's closer again Boro he got subsituted, leaving King and Abe the centre midfield partnership and we looked good, there was no dwelling on the ball, just simply get the ball, look up, and move it on. I appreciate this was only one game and there was nothing riding on it but just thought i'd throw it out there.
