Square pegs in round holes is not what i want to be seeing when we have perfectly good wide players in Dyer and Gallagher in the squad. I fear what will happen even if we do sign another striker is Nugent will be pushed out wide and the new striker will play alone up front alone . At home we should be playing 2 strikers up top. The formation leaves the striker so isolated and even when the full backs come forward to get crosses in there is rarely anybody in the box.

Father Ted Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 We had the right attacking minded players last season to play it, hence why we scored 4 or more goals in a match 5 or 6 times I think, just our leaky defence needed sorting. Instead sven has bought in new players and dropped King, Gallagher, Dyer and lost the Yak, all players who contributed to imo a very strong attacking line.

We haven't got a good winger except from Vassell who was suspended. The money should have gone on quality wingers and a quality goalscorer. shade Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 only formations worth discussing are 442 and 352. forget holes, and christmas trees, diamonds and supporting players, fancy modern tactics suck. two strikers, not players drifting in to support and all this rasmataz!

We started with what looked like Schlupp and Danns out wide but soon changed to a narrow 4-1-2-1-midfield diamond. I thought it looked a little over crowded in midfield but then we were playing with what seemed like a team of centre mids.

Get Gallagher & Dyer/Vassell on the wings for balance. Take your picks for CM. Partner Schlupp & Nugent up top until we get another striker. Leave the team to gel.

I don't agree with picking Fernandes & Abe for every game, but if we went 4 across the middle and picked them both everyone would be moaning about signing Danns & Johnson then leaving both, along with King & Wellens, on the bench/out of the squad. Add to all that we have about 4 players who are perfectly suited to playing wide in a 3 man front line (Nugent, Gallagher, Dyer and Vassell - Schlupp probably fits into that category as well) and all did well there last season and there is essentially no reason to change it. I dunno what you lot were expecting, an unbeaten season? Total football from the off? The idea that we should just chuck money at a striker for the sake of having one is ridiculous.
FoxesFan123 Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Formation is currently a joke. 4-5-1? 4-1-3-2? Who knows! I dont think Sven does. 4 CMs today. Why? Modern football is 4-3-3. It wins games. Let's play with 3 CMs, 2 wingers and a striker please
