Club Career

Des Alan Winston Broadberry (born 5 April 1963) is a retired English football defender.

Starting his senior career with Wycombe Wanderers in 1979, over a seven year period he made around 200 appearances for the club, captaining the side on various occasions and winning a reputation as a tough centre half. Broadberry earned a move to Newcastle United in 1986, however injury limited his playing time at St. James' Park. After three successive years struggling with injury, Broadberry was loaned out to Leicester City in 1990. However, his injuries persisted, and after making a solitary appearance for the Foxes against Port Vale, his loan was cancelled and he was sent back to his parent club. After a four year spell with little playing time, Broadberry decided to call time on an injury ravaged career, and was released by Newcastle, having played just fifteen times in all competitions for the Magpies.

Coaching Career

In 1994 he returned to football after a short period out of the game, having brief spells with the coaching staff at Stoke City, Swindon Town and Motherwell. As of 2009, Broadberry was on the coaching staff at Australian A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners.
