dpjfox Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Kasper 6 did what he had to do but low score due to a bad punch which resulted in their goal Pelts 7 dynamic performance, did ok defensively got forward when he could, tended to misplace some passes but ok performance Bamba 8 Solid (yep occassional heartstopping moments), but generally great defending Mills 9 Great game, put his head in , fought for every ball marshalled the back line well Konch 8 extra point for great goal, defended well got forward when he cou;d, good game Gally 9 MOTM magnificent, great to have him back, great touch vision involvement Wellens 7 industrious, better 2nd half great run for the pen King 6 very quiet Danns 6 didnt make the most of his oportunity Howard 6 worked hard, lasted 90 mins, won a lot of headers put no clear cut chances Nuge 8 tireless worker, always looked dangerous, fans loved him clutching the shirt badge after scoring subs Johnson 7 tidy passes got involved did ok SSL 7 solid defending uncomprimising saw the game out easily alongside Mills Shlupp 6 not on long but could/should have scored when clean thro Overall a decent performance, welcome 3pts , great to have Gally back, now lets win back-toback
MJ27 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Kasper: 6 Not too much to do, but handed them their goal. Konchesky: 5 He did score, but really liable defensively Bamba: 7 Some great moments, some very worrying moments Mills: 8 Solid Peltier: 6 Fairly quiet night, but did what was needed Gallagher: 8 Gave us the width we've been needing Danns: 7 Thought he had a pretty decent game, was solid King: 5 Invisible Wellens: 7 Very good in the defensive midfield role, held everything together Howard: 7 Won lots of flick ons, they didnt exactly go to anyone though Nugent: 8 Got the goal, worked really hard
topharry123 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 I didn't see the game, but by the reviews it looked like Howard was average and put in a decent shift, and Nugent had a great game. So for anyone that watched it, did Nugent have such a good game because of Howard? I mean did he pull people away from Nugent, and give him more time and space to be able to do his thing? Ever since the days of Heskey i've always liked having a big man and a small man upfront, and when someone like Michael Owen keeps on coming out saying that Heskey is the best he's played with it really makes me wonder if this is what we have been missing this season. Thoughts?

Man marked or not he certainly bolstered our defence often enough.
Collymore Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Young referred to King several times for various defensive clearances and said how often and how easily some of work was overlooked. Man marked or not he certainly bolstered our defence often enough. Yeah I've noticed this. He looks more tenacious and stronger this season, I think some peoples ratings are based on "did he score or not"
MJ27 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 To be fair, your listening to what one guy had to say who was at the game, I'm another guy who was at the game - one opinion (particularly of Alan Young) isn't always right. It's not based around the fact that King didn't score, he just was barely involved in anything
Guest parky0607 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 King did have one of those games where you forgot he's on the pitch. But wellens and Gallagher who were either side of him both had excellent games so I'm not sure if it's just that he was overlooked.
Fmfox Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 whats the fernandes situation? - he hasnt been in the squad for the last few matches any reason why?
Andy Hargreaves Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 whats the fernandes situation? - he hasnt been in the squad for the last few matches any reason why? cus hes not very good havent really rated him since he got here plus that penalty miss at cardiff
Mythyaar Posted 3 November 2011 Posted 3 November 2011 Schmeichel 6 (rick for their goal, good distribution generally, not really called upon much) Peltier 5 (he was caught in possession plenty, he was poor in distribution at times, not his best day) Konchesky 6 (better going forward than defending at times) Bamba 8 (great at covering and a couple of key final challenges, nearly got caught in possession in dangerous situations though as is his wont) Mills 7 (not as involved or influential as Bamba, distribution lacking, still not quite on the same wavelength as team mates, but you can see it coming. V brave at times with challenges and timing) Danns 5 (he was caught out constantly at the half way line, Burnley targeted him as the weak link, very lucky not to get booked when his frustrations got the better of him) Gallagher 6 (was poor in the first half, touch and confidence lacking. Grew immensely second half, great cross for goal, good pen, coming back!) King 5 (Wasn't involved that much, had more to do defensively than going forward, didnt do anything wrong though) Wellens 9 (head and shoulders the man of the match. With exception of possibly Nugent, ran more than anyone on pitch. Should not be pigeon holed as a defensive midfielder, he's far more than that, evidence the back heel for second goal, brilliant run for pen, great through ball for Schlupp. Now that Sven's gone, he seems to be back on the mend: QUALITY. Howard 7 (did a great job holding the ball up, and winning first ball, back flicks) Didnt track back or run much but we know his limitations, did well, enhanced Nugent's performance. Nugent 8 (missed an absolute sitter in the first 10 minutes, witness Leicester players reaction to it! His energy, passion, and humour (rugby tackled one of their defenders got a lot of laughs) is contagious. He is a major asset and example to the rest of the team (Beckford please take note), and he took his goal very well.
