Did ya`all notice the NEW offside law?

The ball was played forward, the argies played the offside trap 5 yards inside their own half, a brazil player was """in a offside position""" but hadnt touched the ball (which means he isnt penalised for offside yet). so he runs forward chasing the ball, and once he touched it, the linesman flagged him offside, CRAZY rule, just flag the facker upon the initial incident...

To think we pay someone to think up these things...

Stops the argument about whether they're intefering at least.

Its stupid. the idea of football is to score goals. when the ball is infront of a striker with only the goalie to beat, which striker on earth isnt going to chase that `goal`?

Either flag the facker offside instantly, or not atall.

I agree it's stupid in incidents like when Adriano chased the ball for a while and was free but clearly offside, but I'm interested to see what'll happen when it's not so clearcut as that.

What do you mean alex?

Well sometimes you get incidents in crowded penalty ares for example where it's not clear if someone's intefering or not.

This new rule could possibly avoid confusion there.

Hell, I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore, it's too early

It seems only the initial "not interfering players" exists but once that player touches the ball FIRST, he or she is offside.

Now, a linesman/woman has to spot all those that are in a non interfering position and then work out whether any player is eventually offside or not, when the ball is eventually touched by a player.

As if the linos didnt have it tuff enough, they introduce a rule that requires super strength eye sight.

Still, we`ll ""know"" why they`ll be given more of our turnstile money for wages...
