OzFox Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 For the first time in a long while we looked like scoring from every set piece, that was due to Danns' delivery. Gallaghers is the most overrated ever. What really annoys me is when Bamba leans on other players to gain height and gives away fouls. I've only seen the last three games, but in each there's been a floated corner from Gallagher, and Bamba has given away a free kick by leaning all over defenders at the back post. Very annoying. Neither Bamba or Mills seem very threatening from an attacking sense I thought the best corner against Palace was taken by Kennedy. Left footed from the right side and whipped in with pace.
Captain... Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Why does every thread on her turn into one player vs another, Gally vs Danns, Wellens vs King, Mills vs Bamba, Nugent vs Beckford... All of them are decent players and can play in a team together, Gally and Danns are 2 different players that normally play in different positions, with both on the pitch we can have some variety in delivery. Danns is a CM and so would be the better off in a midfield 3 than Gally, in a 532 I am not sure where I would play Gally probably as part of a front 2 playing behind Nugent, in a 433 as the right sided forward with Danns in the middle, and in a 442, Gally on the right and Danns would have to work for his place in the midfield 2. It is also interesting to see Kennedy took a few corners against Palace, another useful addition. We do need to improve from set pieces and it is good to see we scored 2 goals from set pieces in our last 2 games, Nugent against Pompey from a Gally free kick and Bamba against Palace from Danns.
Kitchandro Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I'd prefer to see them whipped in like Danns than the way Gally does them most of the time. His set-pieces were very good against Portsmouth but his corners are usually too floaty. Having said that, if our big men actually attacked the ball those deliveries would be fine. If they were both on the pitch I'd suggest Danns with corners and Gallagher with the rest.
bluearmyfox23 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I honestly don't see what gally provides us with, he scores the odd penalty, but his set pieces are poor!!
syston_fox Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Gally's corners are always floated in to get Mills and Bamba, 2 of the best headers in the championship, a go at attacking it. Obviously it hasn't worked where as the whipped ball in has. But neither of them has scored a header from a corner in their time at the club. Think I'm right in saying that all four of Bamba's goals have been pretty much bundled in.
