Seriously, why are you raking over this again? Maybe if Sven had stayed we would be 10 points clear at the top, Beckford top scorer and already in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, but judging on how it was going we would probably be hemorrhaging more money on about the same points and bringing in loan after pointless loan in a desperate bid to get promotion.

The thing is we don't know, but this no back to back league wins started under Sven, he had over a year and after a bright start we stalled and, so the rumours go, he had lost the dressing room. We were lacklustre and had no fight, if the team didn't just roll over and let us control the game we lost.

You may not see the improvements but I do, we didn't beat Cardiff and Southampton because we were just too good for them, we beat them because we wanted it more, it was the kind of performance I never saw under Sven.

Look at all the midfielders brought to the club by Sven where are they now? NP has signed a class act, for a fraction of the cost and one who will develop to be an outstanding player. That is what we should have been doing for the last 2 years, the future is bright, but the future is a long way away at the moment, but Pearson's approach, if alllowed to do so, will reap greater rewards than Sven.

How can discussing the one major screw up that has defined THIS season be 'raking over' something - this on a board where regularly the merits of Martin O Neill are discussed as if the bloke left last week -

You clearly never watched any games until Nige came then as the Derby thrashing and victories over the then top 2 never even made it on to your completely defunct radar.

Nigel Pearson will slog his way into the play offs in the next couple of years if he is allowed to stay - if by a miracle we get promoted, he will be fired after 20 games a la Warnock whereby he will be reinstated by Hull and repeat the same formula - we will then be relegated - no one at the club has any real ambition except the clowns in charge and theirs is based on fantasy not reality - good luck

Plus if you are going to be a grammar nazi, you don't need the comma after 'FA Cup' and you do need one after 'Sven' just before the 'where are they now?'

It's a difference of opinion, but at least I'm trying to be positive rather than just criticising, you slag off the owners, and the manager and hark back to a manager who was no better in terms of results, and had a huge amount of resources to throw at the team. NP has bought 3 players and got 1 loanee in, in 5 months, Sven brought in a hell of a lot more than that and we still lost to Milwall at home, you mention the Derby game and if you watch it again you will see some good moments, and large periods of dull pointless football, I don't see the point in fantasising over what would have been under Sven when his record this season was poor.

Get over it, support the boys and the manager and let Sven go.

As for the Grammar Nazi thing, it is mainly about the "could of" "should of" "would of" that I read every single day on here, I don't want to be a real grammar nazi and pick up every post where someone makes that mistake, christ I make loads of mistakes (especially with punctuation), but it has got to the point where I am reading it so much I have started writing it, so it is my passive agressive way of reminding people how it should be written.

Nothing personal.

What's the point?- if you're happy then leave it at that.

I'm happier looking at the positives of the current situation, than beating myself up fantasizing about what could have been under Sven.

Sorry mate.. I wasn't clear. Look at your previous post, where you mentioned 'defensive errors'...

I was making the point that this has only been half the story and that the games 'we should have won' we didn't because we could not turn the possession we had into goals..

Going forwards this team has been as bad, if not worse, than it has going backwards...

In fact, when you weigh up the runs we have had when we kept clean sheets it demonstrates even more clearly that there have been far too few goals in the team.

I think you are 'over thinking' this, the problem this season is very simple, we are not getting enough points!

How many times have we heard it said that 'we played well' or that 'we dominated the game' when we have come away with nothing?

How many times have we heard it said that we 'were unlucky' or that we 'had a lousy ref' when we have been beaten?

The problem is that we simply do not know how to turn our effort or our dominance into points, that is the issue.

In 2009/10 NFP had a squad of players that, despite regularly fielding such footballing giants as Weale, Morrison, Brown, Oakley, N'Guessan and Howard, regularly came home with the points, even though, on occasions, they didn't deserve them.

That team came within a penalty shootout of a trip to Wembley, despite a dressing room bust up the day before the first playoff game and it did it because it knew how to get results, our current team does not, simple as that.

Have you been drinking Dave?

Your posts are becoming ever more strange.

That's what I was saying?

I think a fair bit is because the defeat at Vicarage Road typified our season, whereas the Cardiff game didn't. The Watford game seems to have defined our season and has urged people to write that.

Of course I have been drinking, I'm a City fan....... lol

The point that I am making is that the 2009/10 squad was, in almost all respects inferior, man for man, to the current incumbents. I am making this point to refute the assertion that the current squad is 'not good enough' when they clearly are.

There remains something fundamentally flawed with this seasons squad, something more than just the lack of a player or two to give us 'balance'.

I do not know what the issue is, whether it is a dressing room split, poor management or simply a lack of belief among the players but until the 'attitude' problem is sorted I can not see us moving forward...... :dunno:
