Any of you Southern Foxes ever been to see Basingstoke Bisons ice hockey? Me and wife are giving it a go tonight, apparently it's the M3 derby against Bracknell?? Apart from the obvious, like people on ice skates, anybody know what to expect?

Fights

Been to coventry a couple of times and loved it. Fast paced, end to end stuff, its rather exciting. It can be stop and start but it doesnt affect the play and it enhances play if somebody is sin-binned and so a powerplay occurs as the puck will be pelted at the goal. If its a derby game then fights are a certain. Watched Coventry play Nottingham and as soon as theyd faced off, a Coventry player decided to have a fight, the refs leave them to it until one is down or until a melee starts. Great nights entertainmemt, the best of the North American sports.

Saw Sheffield Steelers quite a few years ago when at university in Sheffield. The tickets were free & I didn't know what to expect or if I would enjoy it? What a fantastic night. We were sat a couple of rows back from the glass & couldn't really see where the puck was on the ice. It didn't matter.......still had a great time. It was a full house, the atmosphere was amazing & must of seen at least half a dozen fights break out on the ice - one right in front of us.

If it is anything like what I experienced..........you'll love it!!

Cheers for the replies lads, quite looking forward to it now, only downside is we are leaving at 4-30, so I'll miss our winning goal! Just for completeness, I'll post up later on how much we enjoyed it.

And I did! Closed the pc, and we scored 2 minutes later! Anyway, Basingstoke won 3-1, quite enjoyed it. About a thousand there, and they have a drummer who makes Lee look like Ringo Starr! He's absolute crap, but does get a bit of atmosphere going. No real fights, just a couple of skirmishes. It'll never replace the City, but for a decent night out and a change, I'd recommend it.

Ice hockey - a proper man's game. Obviously, football is the greatest sport there'll ever be, but ice hockey is up there. Great entertainment. Probably mainly because, like in football, scoring a goal is a tricky thing to do.

Might have to give this a go at some point. I'm pretty sure the ice hockey team went down a couple of years ago though? Must admit I don't pay any attention to them.
