LCFC_Peter Posted 1 April 2012 Author Posted 1 April 2012 Houston we have a problem, if any 1 or more players lack the desire and correct attitude to achieve the desired result the money spent is irrelevant. Each player picked as a choice how to respond to their ability, from what I have seen we are carrying 3-4 players who are not fully committed to the cause. Nigel needs to play the player with the most desire, not the biggest salary Totally agree thats why I think NP is bringing younger 'cheaper' players who have the desire to play 100% despite how much they are paid
Electricity Sports 1960 Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Why follow the QPR model and not the Norwich or Swansea one? QPR spent a lot more than Norwich or Swansea, and yet they're the only promoted side who are in danger of relegation. There's a similar trend this year. The top two are Southampton and Reading, who have spent less than 3rd placed West Ham. Why do you think we have to sign big names to get promoted? Surely, if we've learnt anything from the last couple of seasons, it's that big name players don't matter, and are more often than not a hindrance in this division. To get out of this division, you have to build a team. This is more difficult than just throwing money around at big names, but at the same time, it's also a lot cheaper. NP is a team-builder type of manager, and I'm sure that's why he was brought back. Team building takes time, and I hope the owners realise this. If NP gets sacked before he's had a summer transfer window to sort the squad out, I'll lose all faith in the owners.
Electricity Sports 1960 Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Agree with Raw Dykes. However the owners will have to fund NEXT year and the year after if we are in the Premiership.
cc_star Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 QPR model... make wholesale changes to the playing squad every single time there's the slightest knockback Swansea & Norwich... build We now have a man capable of building, but patience is the ingredient needed, mainly from the fans it seems.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 I would have expected Pearson to have made some headway in the time he has had, but we have made no inroads whatsoever since his arrival.
STEVIE B Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 IMO only a blinkered few of us 'expected instant success'. Having said that, what is success ? A top two finish,a cup run ? Personally I did and would accept a top 6 finish. However, this is highly unlikely now . Apart from the top 2/3 teams the Championship is a poor league. If we had been remotely consistent,a play-off spot would easily have been achieved. Maybe next season just address this and success will surely follow.Whether the owners,or some of us are prepared to hang on a little for success, only time will tell.
