Players that scored for fun in the conference but failed higher up

During a debate about whether of not Jamie Vardy would cut it at a higher level my friend stated that, any player who scores that many goals at that level would always be able to cut it in the championship, his other example was Charlie Austin.

Does anybody know of any promising conference prospects that flopped???? Please help
