Anywhere in the city centre repair iPhones?

More specifically the home button? Mine's kind of unresponsive and annoying now and it'd be nice to get it fixed as its under contract for another 12 months and I dunno if Apple consider it under warranty anymore.

Cheers.

Regarding Apple, what model is it?

There are plenty of shops in the city centre, mainly near the market. Don't know what there called specifically as well as a few on Melton Road and one in the Haymarket that has just opened, but that's more like a stall, It's just past Poundland and the Coop in the Haymarket iirc.

If your home button is defective and your under contract with anyone you can book yourself in at the Apple shop and they will

A) Fix it

B) Replace it

Make sure you back your phone up before you hand it in because then you can just do the swap straight away. When i got my iPhone4 the headphone socket was too tight and a load of fluff got stuck in it i booked an appointment went in to Apple and they gave me a brand new one i didn't even have to let O2 know. My home button has been playing up lately but i think it might be down to the new IOS Update it usually becomes responsive again after a few weeks.

Same thing happened to the Mrs's, very annoying. They replaced it in the Apple store no questions asked

You could try getting a can of compressed air from maplin and try cleaning the area from the dock connector hole? Worth trying the genius bar (book a slot) at the Highcross store - so far as I know you're not obliged to pay anything if they decide there's a non-warranty problem?

Didn't really help and I've tried it before anyway.

Another way is supposedly holding the home button down when it's plugged into the computer until Voice Control comes on and then cancelling it.

Mine's just a bit knackered I think, like you have to press it down more to the left.

Hopefully just a buildup of crap inside - pulled my headphones out the other week and a big blob of gunk came out with it

Don't have any help for a repairer but I reckon first stop Highcross - see what the Apple techs say - pretty sure it's free if you just ask advice

This happened to me, took it to apple they ran some kind of test on it out back and it turns out it had somehow come into contact with water, it was out of warranty and they wanted £119 to fix it, so i left it.

The update did sweet FA, I've since realised the problem occurs when I quote someone. :/ A bit shit but no big deal.
