bmt Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 My girlfriends going to france for 2 months and wants to know what the best way she can make calls and texts cheap is. We went into the orange shop and they were useless. She has an iphone but her contracts ran out so she doesnt need a new phone.
halfpipe Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Best bet is to get a local SIM card once she's in France. If she's lucky, she might even be able to find a international SIM card from over there.. much like how Lebara works over here. That's the only way it'll work out relatively cheap, as texts/calls made in France from any UK-based provider is always going to cost lots.. even on the specialised international ones. So she's best off just getting one once she's over there! EDIT: Might be worth having a look at this too - http://www.telestial.com/view_product.php?ID=LSIM-FR02
Saxondale Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Yeah, local PAYG SIM card. When I was in France, a lot of Brits I worked with used SFR (don't know if that's because it worked out cheapest or just coincidence). http://www.sfr.fr/mo...only?vue=000029 The other main options are Orange and Bouygues.
Jackirius Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 On the subject, when I go travelling i will be going to 10 different countries (mostly SE Asia) just wondering what would plan of action would be best on the phone front.
Captain... Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 If you both have smart phones download whatsapp for messages and viber for calls then it only user data so if she has a WiFi network where she is staying then it's free. Or if she can buy a data top up then it is cheap
