p_kam Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Hi i would appreciate if you can take a minute to take part in my survey. I am doing market research on penny auction sites as i am in the process about starting one up. I am in the process of doing my business plan and need this market research to really be able to finish it off. I am starting my business with the aid of Princes trust and would recommend anyone thinking of starting a business to get in contact with them The auction site i will be starting up is going to different to the other's i am going to make sure a limit is set to what a customer can spend on any one item so they can never over spend a item. i believe that it is not right to con people out of there money and if a person does not will the item they can always place there money spent on bids to buying the item. Also i will have a item in the auction at all times where all profits go to a charity. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XDZM22L It would be grateful if you can help me by taking the survey, there are only 10 questions so it will only take a minute. Thanks
Rincewind Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 I have never used a penny auction so don't know how they operate. I will look at the survey anyway. It may give me some clues. Whilst being out of work I have considered buying and selling on Ebay but the the things I was looking at did not sell for much or not at all IE. CD's DVD ornaments. I wanted to keep it to small things for a start. I was thinking of buying things from charity shops or car-boot sales later on.
Rincewind Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Done. I do use Ebay but rarely. It has to be something that I want or need. It would be the same with the penny aution and I would not want to pay out anything if I did not win. Do you see what others are bidding and can you stop anytime?
p_kam Posted 6 June 2012 Author Posted 6 June 2012 It is a lowest unique bidding/penny auction site, but the point of penny auction site is you take that chance to get a item for a very low price , so paying for bids is the risk you take to get that item for such a low price, but people do end over spending item and at time even more than what it is worth so i am going to place a limit to what a customer can spend, i am placing a cap around about 1/8 of the value of the item can only be spent. I so you can win a item an ipad for the 1/8 of the price. i am still working on the cap, but i want to ensure that people can get a real bargain
Guest Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 I don't like them. paying a fee in advance to then bid for things seems lunacy to me.
Rincewind Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 What fee would you pay on at valued £100 item or 1/8 which is £25? £12.50
p_kam Posted 6 June 2012 Author Posted 6 June 2012 it's not a fee but the amount you can only spend any any given item
