kerryh Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 Three weeks ago a pipe in my bathroom leaked, flooded my upstairs and went through the ceiling into my lounge. As a result of this I need, a new bathroom floor, a new landing and stairs carpet, a new bedroom carpet, a new lounge floor, new ceiling and a new 3 piece suite (or so I thought!!!). I have just taken a call from Norwich Union and they are only prepared to replace my 3 seater sofa that was damaged - I have pointed out to them it is 5 years old and no longer in stock - but they won't budge. It's bloody crazy and I am so angry! Thanks for listening.
shack Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 What about the rest of the stuff that needs replacing - are they going to help you out on those? Insurance companies get right on my ...., they're always quick to get the cash out of you, but when it comes to getting something out of them - that's a different matter. Insurance=extortion. And don't get me started on Car insurance....
Guest Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 And don't get me started on Car insurance.... 137216[/snapback] Don't use Budget for car insurance!

Never move house on Friday 13th!

It's time there was a national inquiry about insurance companies...there are so many scams and unscrupulous practices going on. But, they never like adverse publicity cos it puts the spotlight on em so the above might help.
davieG Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 My daughter had the same problem, she had a 'pair of matching' settees, not only would they only replace the one but she had to get it from a specific supplier. She also had to replace her wooded lounge floor, which had just been laid, they insisted on a specific supplier who was much more expensive for an identical product - alright you might think but they then had to pay the same price to do the hall and dining room as the wanted it all to match, cost them more in the end.

I have got to give my Car Insurance alot of credit, I am with Tesco, I insured my car before I passed my test I paid £1700 I passed my test and then went on to do pass plus, pass plus reduces your insurance by about £200ish but everyone was telling me they would just deduct a further £200 out of next years insurance - Once i'd finished my pass plus course I contacted my insurance company and they said send my certificate off to prove I had done it, when the certificate was return to me, a few weeks later I recieved a cheque for £200 B) I'm sure in most cases your view on insurances would be true, but in my case - Credit where credit is due!

In 2 years I plan for a new car (Provided i'm not in Australia) something like a golf, when I do that I expect my insurance to rocket back up again
Hitesh Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 Insurance companies are a pain. I am training at the moment at Autoglass and we are learning about car insurance and some companies which wont replace glass because its from autoglass. even its the cheapest quote they will only pay for repairs done at a certain place which they specify!

My car changes a bit, the Mrs has had the same car for ages and the reason why I think it's extortion is that the car is worth hardly £600/£700 and every year the cars value depreciates in value but the premium either stays the same or goes up a fiver. How can they say that? The cars has less value - it's done more miles and is worth less...but the price is the same! When you get to the time where I/we are at the moment - with full no claims for about 15 years nd you have the same car and the pruce doesn't come down every year...you ight have the same view as I do! Blllerrrrrrrrrrr
