Anthony Nolan 60 mile challenge

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello esteemed fellow FoxesTalkers.

I’ll try and keep this brief. I've mentioned it in the running thread, but on Sunday I’m running the Ealing half marathon. This is just one of the five races I’m doing (adding up to a little over 60 miles - two 10ks, two half marathons and a marathon) in a bid to raise money for Anthony Nolan. All this is in memory of a very good friend’s father who passed away five years ago and would have been 60 this year.

If you want to support us, find out more about why we’re running, or even find out more (and look into joining) the Anthony Nolan register then check out the following links. There are comical pictures, I promise.

Much love and Godspeed.

A couple of updates on this - I got a place in the London marathon through work, hooray! I started my training on New Year's Day - atart as you mean to go on and all that. Secondly, I got a call from Anthony Nolan on Monday saying I might be a match for a stem cell/bone marrow donation. I had a blood test on Tuesday and in 12 weeks (a couple of weeks before the marathon) I should get the results and see if I can donate. Proof that the register works!

We've raised ~£1250 of our £3000 target so any donation helps!

Hello all. It's that time of the year where I badger you for any sponsorship. We smashed our £3k target so are now aiming for £5k - we're less than £300 away so anything would help.

Also, if you're interested in tracking me on Sunday you can do so here (my number is 27388).

Just donated mate.

Couple of questions...

1. What time are you aiming for?

2. Did you hear back from that donor match you mentioned in the earlier post?

I'd be pleased with anything under 4 hours. I haven't been able to train as much as I'd like though because of a niggling injury. We'll see.

As for the donation, I was a match but they went with another donor :( They've done more tests on my blood though so I should, in theory, be more likely to be picked in the future.

Thanks for your donation! It's much appreciated! I'm hoping we hit our target before Sunday as a bit of an extra boost :)

Just slid a fiver your way, ill be watching on Sunday feeling absolutely no jealousy whatsoever!

Haha, my housemate (who's fund raising with me) just said "I think this one's for you, I don't understand what it means!" :D Cheers mate! We're very grateful! And don't worry, I very much doubt I'll be breaking 3:45!
