Ricey Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 This is main news on BBC Football right now. I'm glad Levein see it how it is and isn't afraid to hold back his views, Balde needs punishing my club and the FA.
EmLeee Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 He owes James an apology - at least! he has to say sorry -it's only right!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 Not only should he apologise to James but to everyone connected with the club. After watching his first half display I believe he would've been involved in a large chunk of our season and this is a very important season for us. We need the best players we have available and I think Wesolowski would've been up there with our best.
EmLeee Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 defo - and watching James in those first 40 minutes, maybe if he'd finished them game, the outcome would have been differernt?
Scow Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 It will be interesting to see what action will be taken - Balde is a thug, and the appropriate disciplinary action should be attributed to him.
LoneWolf Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 glad to see we aint leaving it at that, i thought it was a horrible tackle, one which has intent to seriouslly hurt some one.... he was peed off at de vries n dublin dominateing him, so he takes it out on the little guy... poor fella
Thracian Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 It will be interesting to see what action will be taken - Balde is a thug, and the appropriate disciplinary action should be attributed to him. 141592 The strongest action. Football should be prepared to stand up and deal severely with people like this.
Knighton Matt Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 Strachan amazingly defends the challenge... Celtic manager Gordon Strachan believes Bobo Balde's leg-breaking challenge on Leicester teenager James Wesolowski was an accident.Balde's challenge led Leicester manager Craig Levein to say: "It was disgraceful, it was disgusting, it was malicious and it was intentional." But Strachan, while expressing his concern for the player, insisted that there was no malice on Balde's part. "Sometimes there can be accidents on the football field," he said. "The referee has to decide if there is intent and I don't even think he gave a foul. He was the guy closest to it - not me or Craig Levein - and he decided there was no intent. "There is a blame culture in this country. But you cannot blame someone for every incident. "What we need to be concerned about is the lad and we are now hoping the lad gets back to full fitness because until that point he was having a good game, he was enjoying himself. "We wish him all the best and I will try to get in touch with him as soon as I can but I have been out the country since eight hours after the game finished." Levein was adamant that Balde's tackle was malicious. "I will be very disappointed if we do not get an apology from Celtic and from Balde in due course," he said. "That sort of thing has no place in the game. The tape is going to the FA." Australian Wesolowski was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery to insert a pin in his shin. Levein confirmed on the club's website: "The surgeon was happy with the way the operation has gone. "But we won't know for a good few months whether it has been successful or not. "Wesolowski is still in hospital and will be released on Friday. We don't know how long he will be out of action for yet. "It is a case of monitoring his recuperation at the moment and seeing how that goes." Source
Ricey Posted 21 July 2005 Author Posted 21 July 2005 The reason the ref thought there was no intent as A because he is a poor ref and B it happened so quickly it wasn't easy to see however judging on the video evidence the intent is clear.
rossporterlc Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 sounds like it was a bad challenge and even if it wasn't intentional an apology would be given by most fellow professionals
LoneWolf Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 sounds like it was a bad challenge and even if it wasn't intentional an apology would be given by most fellow professionals 141926 even ashley cole said sorry, and he got sent off its just sportsmanship, but i dont think balde has any, as it was only a friendly, i wouldnt expect that in just a friendly game from any player, even if they hated one another
Proud_Jambo Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 John Yorkston was interviewed by BBC Radio Scotland immediately before the Cup tie against Celtic and was asked how he felt about Martin O'Neill's comments about the artificial playing surface at East End Park:- "Martin is entitled to his opinion as everybody is but when he comes out with words like it is dangerous and has absolutely nothing to back these claims up that's what annoys us." BBC: You haven't had that many injuries in the Dunfermline Squad in terms of playing on the pitch? "We have not had any that are related to the surface. As far as we are aware there's no opponents had any injuries related to the surface. You could probably say Bobo Balde been responsible for more injuries this year than our surface." source Just thought I'd let you see that pretty much everybody in Scotland is in agreement that Balde is dangerous.. apart from the tic. This was from last year when MON criticised Dunfermlines plastic pitch... He could never see the dangerous way Balde played either. Your young lad is the most serios casualty so far that I can think of but I have seen Balde take out several Hearts players. In a 2-2 draw at parkhead he concussed Kevin McKenna who had to be taken off because he didn't know what way we were shooting (true) . Another question why is Kisnorbo not playing is he injured?? I know you are looking for left backs, he actually played left back for us on quite a few occasions.

Balde's a clumsy bastard, nothing more. The treatment he has received from fans and pundits in Scotland ever since he came is shocking. I've heard him receive monkey noises from your racist and bigoted fans time and time again at Swinecastle. When he first came over there was a media circus at this "Big Black Monster" - An absolute disgrace. I've already said what I feel about the tackle but the way this issue has been turned around into another witchunt is dissapointing but to be expected.

They shouldn't, but they do. Tackles are made, injuries occur and players are sidelined. Balde is a good stopper and someone who Bayern Munich were interested in signing this summer. He's tough, uncomprimising and a lot of the time, clumsy. Not malicious and disgusting though and he certainly doesn't intentionally injure players. This is the first time that he has seriously injured someone and could possibly be the last. I agree completely. It's a pity the SFA don't feel the same way though or they would do something about the racists and bigots at Tynecastle and Ibrox. No, not in print, but he was called that by reporters on Radio Scotland. It was verging on blatent racism.

Or did you just casually forget them? Does the term "dirty orange bastard" ring any bells? Certainly rings a bell with me every time Rangers are playing Celtic at Parkhead and it's on the telly... Bet you really hate Leeds United too, eh?

It's not a coincidence that 99% of football fans think this after watching him play. This is nothing to do with the colour of his skin and it's disgusting if he has been the target of racist remarks, but the fact of the matter is he is a nasty bit of work and should be punished for it. We had a player called Steve Walsh who was classed as a thug and to a certain extent he was, but atleast the player admitted it. There's no place in the game for players like Balde who on numerous occasions leave players with bad injuries, it's not as if it's the first time he's put a player out of action for a period of time. I've watched him play on about 8 or 9 seperate occasions and not only is he a thug, he's actually quite a poor footballer. So he hasn't got alot going for him. The mind boggles at why Bayern Munich wanted him. Any footballer who struggles for 90 minutes against Mark de Vries has got to be questioned.

Racists and bigots at Celtic Park? Nah, simply not true. I've not once heard racist abuse from the mouths of Celtic fans levelled at a player in the past 10 years of being a season ticket holder, not once. The Orange Order is an organisation which is openly anti-catholic. It is not mainly about protestantism, in fact it's sole intention is the persecution of Catholics. The term "Orange Bastard" is rarely heard around Celtic Park but when it is, I maintain that it is not a bigoted statement. Being an Orangeman is not the same as being a Protestant and theirin lies the difference. There are no sectarian chants to be heard at Celtic Park, or when we travel away from home, none whatsoever. I do hate Leeds as a matter of fact. I thought everyone did? Dirty Dirty Leeds.

I don't believe any football club in the UK is free from racism and bigotry.
Hutber's Law Posted 22 July 2005 Posted 22 July 2005 Don't know what everyone else thinks but I really don't want us or our forum getting dragged into all this internecine crap. Let them get on with it by all means but keep it off our boards.
