rossporterlc Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 PS3 won’t be cheapSony Computer Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi has warned that the PlayStation 3 will "be expensive", according to a report on Cnet.com. Speaking at a press conference in Japan, Kutaragi said that the console "can’t be offered at a price that’s targeted towards [typical] households". Support of emerging technology – including Blu-ray discs and HD (high definition) TVs – will significantly increase the launch price, he said. However, it should also prolong the console’s life expectancy. "We're looking at a life cycle of 10 years," Kutaragi told journalists. "We're releasing the PS3 with full HD features from the start so that consumers won't have to buy another version of the console in the future." The PlayStation 3 is due out sometime in 2006. that's me not buying one then, at least not for a year or so
filbertway Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 OPS2 said they thought the price would be sub £300, certainly no more than £400 .
Libertine Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 I probably would have waited about a year or so anyway. So, not too bothered.
TornadoShaunUK Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 sod the ps3 anyway.. I want Nintendo's next gen console.. I may consider getting Microsoft's aswell but I'm not to sure about that yet...
Alexikokopops Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 I'm not suprised, you seen how good that shit is?
Scow Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 OPS2 said they thought the price would be sub £300, certainly no more than £400 . 145704 Hopefully that's the case - I can just about afford that.
Libertine Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 How can anyone choose Microsoft or Nintendo over Sony anymore? Sony are the next-gen kings! (Yes, I know I'm being a fanboy)
Hitesh Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 Sony is the way forward IMO. Years more experience than Microsoft and Nintendo should stick to what they do best...portables! It will be expensive but so was the PS2 when that came out. Just give it a couple of years and it will be affordable to a vast majority. I probably wont be able to afford one because ill be in Uni and in sh*t loads of debt!
Blue Arrow Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 Sony is the way forward IMO. Years more experience than Microsoft and Nintendo should stick to what they do best...portables! 146666 Well I've played a Nintendo DS and a PSP ad the PSP is much better.
Jay Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 Well I've played a Nintendo DS and a PSP ad the PSP is much better. 146668 it's also twice the price!!! The thing is with the next gen consoles is that they are going to be more than just a games machine and will be a full home entertainment system, but wasn't the PS2 and XBOX around if not over the £400.00 mark when they first came out? However I am not sure about these blue ray disks it's obvious that Sony are not happy that that DVD discs have taken off so well and want to change the format to something that they have the copyright on so that they can make even mmore money from it!!! they tried exactly the same thing in the 80's with a rival to the CD developed by Philips who I believe still get some sort of payment for every cd sold and that didn't work either
Blue Arrow Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 it's also twice the price!!! 146674 A leicester ticket is twice the price of some league 1 or 2 tickets...but which would u buy?
Jay Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 true but I would rather by a Lincoln City ticket than a Man Utd ticket as well! The thing is IMO they are both aimed at different markets the DS will be a big seller because it is aimed at the younger market, just like the Gameboy and it has some great features like the touch screen and the pen thing it is also just the right price for a Christmas present where as the PSP is aimed at the the late teen - adult market. They are both great systems just aimed at different people
rossporterlc Posted 30 July 2005 Author Posted 30 July 2005 i'm gonna be buying the PSP so much stuff in such a little space and for £170, i think it's quite reasonable
TornadoShaunUK Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 I have seen the psp - I'll get one of those if pro evo soccer comes out for it.. otherwise it's not worth my moola. I have a Nintendo DS, imported it from the US through eBay. Good console. I don't like Sony's consoles, never have probably never will. I used to have the PS2 Aqua but that went when I discovered the only game I ever played on it was pro evo 4, then they went and announced pro evo 5 for the xbox so I thought sod it I'm getting rid.. As for Nintendo, I have always been a fan of their games and the only way you can get them is to buy the Nintendo format. You can't beat Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc. I just wish they'd release pro evo on it so then for me it would be the complete console. Also, Nintendo make the best official control pads.. hands down.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 July 2005 Posted 30 July 2005 true but I would rather by a Lincoln City ticket than a Man Utd ticket as well! 147034 Just out of curiosity, why Lincoln? When I showed my buddy Guy what the PS2 would be like from that thread on here a while back his response was "I reckon that'll cost £300, maybe £350". Sounds like he wasn't far off. I still have a PS2 though, because a lot of games don't come out for the GameCube, it's a little annoying. And I play Pro Evo too much.
