Adams On Watford Defeat

Micky Adams says his players must now respond following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Watford at the Walkers Stadium. The Leicester boss made four changes to his starting line up following last weekend's setback at Millwall.

Four personnel changes and as many positional changes It’s bad enough having a different squad each season do we have to have one every week as well.

But Adams saw his side undone by the Hornets in injury time, and confirmed that he had plenty of food for thought ahead of next Saturday's away clash at Wolves. He said: "We are obviously disappointed. It is never easy accepting defeat right at the death of the game. It is disappointing for everyone but there is a long way to go.

So why does it keep happening? It can no longer be regarded as bad luck, it’s bad tactics.

"We had chances to win the game. We are just unfortunate that luck is not going our way in front of goal at the minute. But at least we are creating. "I have got no doubt at all that the fans are upset and I am upset also. A lot of people will judge the players on four appearances when really you get judged on 46 at this level.

Team wise maybe, but on an individual basis with 9 out of 11 players under performing judgements can be made, didn’t you judge that Nalis deserved to be dropped."

It is a long old season and we have got a lot of things to work on. Some of the players are catching up in terms of fitness because they joined us so late. So we will work on that.

Every club has players that are catching up fitness wise that is not an excuse for poor team selection, poor tackling, marking and passing, only that players may tire towards the end that’s when you use your subs, Get the Idea Micky.

But at least we have got an idea as to where we are at.

Well it doesn’t look like that from where I’m sitting, in fact that seems to be the biggest problem the players seem to have no ideas."

Watford were resolute at the back and had a dangerman up front in the boy Webber. We have learnt lessons.

What the hell did you expect, 4 ballet dancers and a pantomime dame."

We have got to respond. There was a lot of expectancy on us today because for the first time I can remember for longs time that the fans were expecting a victory. Sometimes that transpires against you."

Oh what a shame the shock of it, how tough it must be to manage a football team where the fans might expect to win a game now and then.

Adams was dealt a further blow in the closing stages of the game when James Scowcroft pulled up with an injury.

OK the injury was a blow but the effects were self inflicted, if you hadn’t used your 3 subs (why was Wilcox taken off for Stewart who are both useless) then you could have brought someone on. Your decisions, your mistake, not bad luck just bad management.

He added: "Scowcroft has picked up a knock on the top of his fibula. We will go and get that x-rayed. That is disappointing because he is a big player for us.

Well playing on with it for half an hour wont have helped!"

I thought that the combination with Scowcroft and Connolly in the first half was particularly effective.

Now that is funny Micky

We should know more about the injury next week."

Yes, but will you have a better idea on how to manage a football team, No thought not!

Thanks for that Mad Dog, I forgot that one.

What's it like to watch LCFC these days - YAWN

As someone said to me what other entertainments do you fork out £20+ on and spend most of the time wishing you'd not bothered, just like those on the pitch who can't be arsed to string two passes together when they have the ability, and are paid £5000+ plus a week to do so.

Some very good points there, davieg.

I never had Adams as someone who makes excuses, but more and more of this is creeping in to his after match reactions......

Well it wasn't meant to be taken too seriously after all it's only football, but in the aftermath of the start we've had, not the points but the performances you have to let off steam somewhere, somehow and at someone. The players are staying stum so that leaves MA.

Last year he kept saying in public the team were sh|te, which I beleived was the wrong approach. Now would be the time to give them a public rollicking to shake them up because the're patently under performing, all the rest is just excuses.

Adams is like Keegan, always hard done too and banging on about effort without fair results etc.....

The bare bones of it was we were disjointed yesterday and not capable of putting two passes together unless they involved kicking the ball into the clouds. The midfield was appauling yesterday and only two players on the pitch were prepared to put a foot on the ball and try and run/pass it - Tiatto and Gemmill. The amount of times Gudjohnsson got knocked off the ball was unbelievable.

It would have been a totally different storey if Williams had stuck that chance away and we would have probably gone on to win 4 nil. Just like that chance Elliott missed after 2 minutes against Bolton 3 years ago, I swear we wouldnt have got relegated if that had gone in and Taylor would probably still be in charge now.........

On to the next and lets hope we capitalise on Wolves bad start.

Leicester manager Micky Adams has cited the midweek international commitments of several players as a factor in the defeat by Watford.

David Connolly, Nikos Dabizas, Joey Gudjonsson and Keith Gillespie had all been called up by their respective nations prior to Saturday's 1-0 reverse, which Gillespie was forced to sit out after picking up an ankle injury while playing for Northern Ireland.

Adams said: "We'd had a few away on international duty, and that disrupted our preparations because it made for a disjointed week.

"I'm certainly not making excuses, though. I don't make excuses.

You could have fooled me. That is the second one at least that I have seen in the last two days.:unsure:  ^_^ <_<
