Mark_from_USA Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Off the football topic a bit, but I was reading about the owner, and I found this article to be a good overview of the current political crisis in Thailand: http://rt.com/op-edge/thailand-ongoing-political-crisis-364/ As far as I can tell, the owner would be considered in the King's sphere and hence on the 'side' of the current 'Red Shirt' protesters. Although, in reality, he probably just wants it to be finished so it doesn't impact tourism, which is where he makes all his money due to his duty free business. Fascinating topic - in Thailand, the King still has real power and lots of the big businesses can operate as near-monopolies. Interesting that people from such a place can take such an interest in a Midlands football club!
VLC86 Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Ye$, I'm not $ure why and foreign owner would buy a team in the champion$hip and u$e them to promote their product and take them to the premier$hip where they can earn $hit load$ of money

Mack Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Watching the situation in Thailand currently it has been something that has crossed my mind with some concern. I guess it's fairly obvious that your face has to fit with the people in power to get as wealthy as our owners have and then that leads you on to worry that if there was a huge change in the Thai Political structure just what the outcome would be for our owners and as a result our club. These things can change so quickly in places like Thailand, and I am no expert on the Thai unrest, however it seems to have been simmering for a few years now and it sometimes makes you wonder what if....?

Imagine the additional money he would need to spent to make City a top PL club. I think his interest is more than just business. More like a very expensive hobby I expect.

A millionaire's football manager. So far he's doing a good job though.

We might not break even after 1 year but maybe after 4/5 plus the added benefit of having their product in King Power plastered all over the tv will help their business profits. Don't get me wrong I'm not criticising them as we are lucky to have good owners

You only have to look at Man City's previous Thai to know, that politics over there at every volatile.
Mark_from_USA Posted 10 February 2014 Author Posted 10 February 2014 You only have to look at Man City's previous Thai to know, that politics over there at every volatile. Never knew that. Man City's owner is actually the one who everyone is protesting about now, the deposed ex Prime minister Thaksin. At least Leicester's owner could be considered apolitical. I don't think he would be quite as vulnerable to having assets frozen like happened to Man City's ex-owner. Plus he has more assets! Who knows, maybe the current owners are aiming higher that we think!
CosbehFox Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Thai media have linked Thaksin to our owners on lots of occasions. It is believed that they gained favourable deals in order to get the retail space in the airports of Bangkok.
