crisp monster Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Fair play to you brisfox :-) and if Dyer done that to the red lot I love him even more. Give that man a new contract!!
Vlad the Fox Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Geoff goes when I get him a free ticket. He's really cheap (sorry Geoff). I like to take him and he much prefers my commentary to the one on the radio. I try to describe the ground to him, he likes to hear the other fans comment on the game. For him, being there is like compared to listening on the radio is like a sighted person watching a live game compared to one on Sky. Being there is so much better. I was listening to a podcast (bbc documentaries) about a blind man who went to football matches a little while back, he was saying it was all about the atmosphere, the ebb and flow of the crowd allowed him to work out what was happening and was so much better than listening to the radio.
Weller in Tights Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 I remember way back in the 70's a blind bloke who went with his mate in pen 4. He loved the atmosphere, and his mate really was a top commentator, anyone (old gist like me) remember this bloke? The blind guy use to wear a Crombie coat.
Famous Team Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I went with my blind friend,Geoff, to the game. Couldn't get tickets with City fans so got 2 in block 10 in the Trent End. I have the following comments, Forest fans are the rudest I have ever met. We got shouted and sworn at when we were walking to the ground by middle aged Forest fans. As a Forest ST holder I can honestly say I've never see this happen to away fans on their way to the ground keeping themselves to themselves. If it did happen then it must have been just a couple of twats, hardly justifies suggesting that all Forest fans are rude. City fans were a real credit, well behaved and very loud. Fair enough. Forest fans were moaning all night , especially when we equalised. Yep, we do have some right moaners. Forest don't have a special disabled area. Not something I know about, maybe because it's an older stadium? The City players were winding up the Forest fans when we scored the first by making gestures at them (Take a bow, Lloyd Dyer). When players do that it surprises me that the coppers don't get involved. If a fan starts trying to antagonise the opposition fans he'll at least be thrown out if not arrested, yet players can do their best to insight crowd unrest then simply walk back to the centre circle. Lloyd Dyer = tw@. Darlow should have been sent off for trying to kick Vardy leading up to the first goal. Sent off for trying to kick someone? Billy Davies is a mardy git. He is indeed. But the vast majority of professional football managers are when things don't go their way, so why single him out It sure was fun when we equalised, even though we had to sit on our hands. Must say I've never sat in the home end at an away match. I wouldn't enjoy not being able to cheer/moan/shout etc. Fair play to you though if you had a good time. We didn't get rumbled because Forest fans are a bit thick. I'll take that as the sarcasm it's intended as. Forest fans have given up on trying to catch us. Yep. I imagine Burnley, Derby and QPR fans have as well. The attendance was pathetic at 24,800. Agreed. I was surprised and disappointed. For what it's worth I'm in the minority amongst Forest fans in that I'd prefer it if we allocated a few more to away fans. I suggest that next time we play Forest that we restrict the away support to 2100, same as they did to us. Wouldn't blame you. Thoughts? .
Renart Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I asked Geoff why he likes football. He likes the atmosphere and I give him a running commentary on the games. Funnily enough, he is also a big fan of snooker. I asked him how it is possible to enjoy that. He said he likes to hear the click of the balls. Strange guy! Geoff goes when I get him a free ticket. This has to be my favourite thread for a long time. Fair play to you brisfox and to Geoff.

brisfox Posted 21 February 2014 Author Posted 21 February 2014 When we were on our way to the ground, I was walking with Geoff, who is obviously disabled, along with my son in a City shirt. We were abused 3 times in the space of 5 minutes. I thought they didn't care about us? I don't know how many City fans were in with the Forest but I suspect there were quite a few. It was sad to see so many empty seats when so many City fans wanted to see the game. The fact I was able to easily get tickets in the home end proves segregation does not work. If Geoff and I had been hooligans , we could have caused trouble. Pity the Forest don't have a mixed area , like at Fulham
Munshi Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 . Hardly fair comments. First of all, fans don't get arrested for goading the away fans with gestures or swearing, if that was the case there would be a large proportion of fans arrested. Its was the same situation last when Cox or Billy Sharp (cant remember) did a little gesture to our fans. It happens. Fans were giving him stick so he gave it back. Darlow blantantly tried to take Vardy out from the back, if Konchesky was sent off for his challenge, I don't see what's wrong with Darlow being sent off for his either.
