Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 It depends what you mean by best player. If you mean in terms of actual ability, nah Walsh would be nowhere near our best ever. I think Elliott was definitely a better and more consistent defender than him even in the same position and the same team. If you mean cult hero and commitment to the club then he's undoubtedly up there. Without wanting to quibble, because I agree with your post but I think there is a difference between legend and cult hero. Walsh = legend. Rooster Russell, Tommy Wright = cult heroes but not legendary status.
Aus Fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Greatest ever legend: Rowley Chandler Lineker Banks Shillton Glover Weller Lynx Birch Worthington If we are talking in terms of ability has to be one of the above. In terms of legendary status and what they have given back to the club. Birch Lineker Walsh (In no particular order)
CountesthorpeFox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Are we talking greatest on football ability or greatest legend? Walshy every time on legendary status. (In the last 30 years) Absolute legend agreed, but best player, depends how you measure it. Purely as a player and what they achieved in their career overall then we are talking more Lineker, Banks, Mancini etc . . In my lifetime though and from what I have watched the most gifted player who played for us for a prolonged spell was Izzet. As I say though all depends how you define "best".
Guest Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Our greatest ever player IMHO. A figure of legend now, like one of the Arthurian knights of old. Far from that but a good lad nonetheless
Candidcamera Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Added to the atmosphere for those watching at home. He is a legend and Leicester through and through.
